5 players with most sixes in CPL history

Six-hitting is an art that comes naturally to some batsmen, while many have to practice on a regular basis to better their senses of big-hitting. If one has to talk about the players with most sixes in T20 cricket, it would be pretty obvious to find Caribbean cricketers dominating the charts.  With CPL 2020 in progress, one can find many gigantic hitters of the white ball, either playing on the opposite sides or on the same side, in a quest to take their side onto the roads of galore by winning them matches on their power-hitting prowess. On that note, let’s take a look at 5 players with most sixes in CPL –

5. Darren Bravo (95 Sixes)

One of the most reliable batsmen in CPL history, Bravo is among those cricketers who can easily change gears from anchor to a smasher, all in a span of few deliveries.

He has been with the Trinidad and Tobago franchise since the inaugural edition of CPL, guiding them to CPL titles in 2015, 2017, and 2019.

A middle-order batsman, Bravo has scored close to 1500 runs while striking around 120, and his experience of the format could lead to TKR’s fourth titular victory.

4. Lendl Simmons (105 Sixes)

An aggressive cricketer who can whack from the very moment, Simmons is one of the most exciting players in CPL.

He currently plays for the Trinbago Knight Riders, while earlier, he has been a member of Guyana Amazon Warriors, Jamaica Tallawahs, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, and St Lucia Stars.

In 71 CPL innings, Simmons has racked 2000-plus, averaging 32.26 and striking at 119.41.

He is a gem of a player in T20s whom any franchise would want to have to strengthen their top-order.

3. Kieron Pollard (107 Sixes)

When it comes to hitting sixes with ease, one of the names that surely pops up in the minds of cricket fans is of Kieron Pollard. ‘Touch and Six’ – that’s the level of power he commands.

Pollard has been playing in CPL since its inception, aggregating over 1700 runs, averaging 35.48, and striking at a jaw-dropping rate of 147.83.

Earlier, he has been a part of Barbados Tridents and St Lucia Stars. At present, he leads Trinbago Knight Riders.

The 32-year-old has a long way to go in T20 cricket, and it shouldn’t come as a surprise if in future the big man ends up smashing the most sixes in CPL.

2. Evin Lewis (113 Sixes)

Currently playing with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Lewis has scaled new heights since he made his CPL debut in 2014 with Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel.

An opening batsman, he has been a consistent striker of the ball in all the editions of CPL, amassing 1594 runs at a strike rate of 142.19.

For someone who finds a mentor in Chris Gayle and wants to dominate the shorter formats in the similar manner, one can expect the Trinidadian cricketer to clobber more hits by the time CPL 2020 comes to an end.

1. Chris Gayle (162 Sixes)

The greatest batsman to have played the T20 format, Chris Gayle finds himself comfortably seated at the top spot with over 160 sixes under his belt in CPL, while no other cricketer has so far got past the 120-six mark.

Not just the greatest striker of the ball, the southpaw is the highest run-getter in CPL history, amassing 2354 runs in 74 innings at an average and strike rate of 39.23 and 133.44 respectively.

So far, he has played for two franchises in the Caribbean T20 tournament – St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Jamaica Tallawahs and was set to play for the St Lucia Zouks had he played this season.

But, even though the Six Machine isn’t participating in the CPL 2020, as he opted out due to personal reasons, one should be assured that his record is likely not to be broken in the ongoing edition.
