Can AC Milan close the gap on arch-rivals Inter Milan?
The current edition of the Serie A has not produced any clear-cut favourites yet, but it seems that the trophy will stay in Milan, be it in the red half of the city or the blue. AC Milan are currently placed in the second position with 42 points from 19 matches – four points less than Inter Milan.
They started their season on a superb note, going unbeaten in their first twelve matches. However, Stefano Pioli’s team has not been at their best in the last few matches. They have lost three of their last seven matches – against Fiorentina, Sassuolo and Napoli.
On the other hand, Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma have done well to win ten of their 19 matches and get a place in the top six as of now. Based on current standings, they would get into the UEFA Europa Conference League play-off round, but their main aim will be to secure a Champions League return.
Like their opponents, Roma also had a good start as they lost only three of their first ten matches, but they have suffered four defeats in their last nine meetings – against AC Milan, Venezia, Bologna and Inter Milan.
