ARS vs BUR, EPL 2021-22: MPL Preview, Predictions, & Fantasy Team

Arsenal take on Burnley in the next round of fixtures in the English Premier League. Arsenal currently lie 6th in the Premier League standings. The Gunners are just 2 points off top 4, and have two games in hand over 4th placed West Ham United. West Ham play Top 4 chasing Manchester United on Saturday, and Arsenal have a chance to leapfrog The Hammers provided they beat relegation-threatened Burnley.

Burnley are bottom of the Premier League but have played the least number of games in the Premier League. All thanks to postponement due to COVID outbreaks, and also due to weather conditions at Turf Moor. Burnley themselves have a chance of getting out of the relegation places with a win at The Emirates, and will still have more than a couple games in hand over their rivals in the relegation places.

Arsenal vs Burnley EPL 2021/2022

Date: 23rd January 2022

Time: 7:30 PM IST

Venue: Emirates Stadium, London, UK

Form Guide:

Arsenal have only lost once in their last five fixtures in the Premier League, but have won just the one time in all competitions. They were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Liverpool, who progressed to the finals of the competition after a 2-0 victory over the Gunners at The Emirates on Thursday night. Mikel Arteta’s men missed out on a Wembley appearance due to the defeat, and are now only left with the Premier League to focus on. The Gunners are in the European places and have a chance of making it to not only the Europa League but also to the coveted Champions League. It won’t be easy though. They will have to pull up their socks if they are to have a chance at making it to the European competition next time.

Burnley on the other hand are going through their roughest patch in a long time. The Clarets have won just one game all season, and find themselves in the relegation battle. They’ve lost three of their last five and managed to draw two of their last five. Sean Dyche’s men have also had to deal with postponed fixtures, affecting their match fitness, and have not been able to get going with a proper run. When they have entered the pitch, they have come out second best on most occasions, and they will want to turn things around rather quickly if they are to save their season.

Arsenal vs Burnley: Head-to-Head

Arsenal have been the better team in the meetings between the two English teams.

Games won:34
Games drawn:23
Games lost:55

The Gunners also won their fixture against The Clarets the last time they met as they beat them 1-0 at Turf Moor earlier in the season.

Team News:

Arsenal will be without Thomas Partey who was sent off in their Carabao Cup fixture against Liverpool. The Ghanaian international only returned to club duty after finishing his international duties with Ghana at the AFCON. However, his return was not a fruitful one for him, or for Arsenal as he was sent off within 15 minutes of him coming onto the pitch at The Emirates.

Arsenal Predicted XI: Ramsdale; Tomiyasu, White, Gabriel, Tierney; Lokonga, Odegaard; Saka, Smith Rowe, Martinelli; Lacazette

Burnley now face the second half of the season without their striker Chris Wood who no longer plys his trade at Turf Moor, but instead at St. James Park playing for the colors of Newcastle United. The richest club in the world, Newcastle United triggered Wood’s 25 million release clause which made him move clubs. Instead of fighting relegation with Burnley, Wood will now fight for Newcastle’s survival in the Premier League.

Burnley Predicted XI: Pope; Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor; Gudmundsson, Cork, Westwood, Brownhill; Lennon, Rodriguez

Arsenal vs Burnley – Prediction

Both Arsenal and Burnley are in need for 3 important points. Arsenal are fighting for the Champions League spots, while Burnley need the points to keep their Premier League status alive. The Premier League pendulum can swing either way, but fans can expect Arsenal to take all three points this time around.

Prediction: Arsenal 2 – 0 Burnley
