Manchester United will travel to North London to face Arsenal in a top four clash on Saturday in the English Premier League.
Arsenal got back their campaign on track with an impressive 4-2 win over London rivals Chelsea in the last match. An Eddie Nketiah brace and goals from Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka proved to be enough as the Gunners put a dominating performance prior to their meeting with the Red Devils.
Three successive defeats had put their top four hopes in tatters and the win against Chelsea has certainly injected beliefs in them. Despite the unavailability of some crucial players and injury problems, Mikel Arteta’s side displayed their magical character as they invaded the European champion’s house.
They are currently in fifth place with 57 points and are only separated by a goal difference from Tottenham Hotspur and with a North London derby scheduled in May this position might very well be changed.
United announced the appointment of Erik ten Hag who will replace interim manager Ralf Rangnick in the next season. The Dutch manager will be working closely with the United players but there are still five games to play this season which could impact the new manager’s philosophy next season.
United were toyed by Liverpool at the Anfield as Jurgen Klopp’s men thrashed the Red Devils 4-0 to pile more misery on them. Top four is still very much achievable but they need to start beating big teams starting with Arsenal.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Scott McTominay and Raphael Varane are back in contention and this might boost their chances. United ran out a winner the last time these two teams faced at the Old Trafford but the situation is very different this time.
They are visibly struggling and seem to have run out of ideas on the pitch. With Chelsea up next this match could be the perfect opportunity for United to bounce back.
