Arsenal will round off their preseason with a home match against Sevilla at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
The Gunners have had an eventful transfer window so far as they have signed Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos and Matt Turner this summer.
Mikel Arteta needs to make amends this time as the North London giants can’t afford another season outside the Champions League. Arsenal defeated Ipswich Town, Everton, Nuremberg, Orlando City and Chelsea.
Their 4-0 win over archrival Chelsea got extinguished pretty quickly as Brentford defeated Arteta’s side in the London Colney training ground in a closed door friendly.
Arsenal did show flashes of brilliance last season but their performance in the penultimate stage let them down as they failed to stamp down a place in the top four in the Premier League.
But their preseason performances have been pretty encouraging and the manager is pretty optimistic about the upcoming season. New recruit Jesus has already been heavily involved and scored four goals since donning the Gunners jersey.
Sevilla finished in fourth place in the La Liga last season and will flex their muscle against Arsenal. The Spanish side opened their preseason with a draw with Tottenham Hotspur followed by a win over Sporting CP.
They defeated Angers 6-0 and will be coming very hot against the Londoners.
The departure of Jules Kounde would be hard to digest as Barcelona have agreed on a deal with the Spanish club for the French defender. Diego Carlos also made his way to the Premier League as he has been roped in by Aston Villa this summer.
It remains to be seen how Julen Lopetegui manages to marshal his backline without his two stalwarts. Sevilla participated in the 2017 Emirates Cup but lost to the host team and they would want to better their chances this time.
Sevilla are scheduled to play two more friendlies with Leicester City and Cadiz before they take on Osasuna in their La Liga opener.
