Asia Cup 2022: IND vs PAK Fantasy Preview and MPL Top Picks

Match: India vs Pakistan (IND vs PAK)

Date: September 4, Sunday, 7.30 PM IST

Venue: Dubai International Stadium, Dubai

Arch rivals India and Pakistan will go head to head for a second time in the Asia Cup 2022 at the Dubai International Stadium on September 4. In their first encounter of the tournament a week ago, Pakistan narrowly lost the nail-biter.

Bowlers from both the sides put up a wonderful show. India, who opted to bowl first after winning the toss, bowled out Pakistan for 147 runs in the penultimate ball of the innings. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the best bowler on the day with four wickets, while Hardik Pandya picked up three wickets. Arshdeep Singh (2) and Avesh Khan (1) also chipped in. For Pakistan, the only significant knock came from opener Mohammed Rizwan (43).

In the second innings, the Pakistan bowlers gave a good fight for most of the game until Hardik Pandya wrapped up the chase with a six in 19.3 overs. Most of the Indian batsmen struggled against the Pakistan quicks, but Pandya produced a match-winning 33 off 17. Mohammad Nawaz and Naseem Shah picked up five wickets between them.

The Rohit Sharma-led side is having great run in the game’s shortest format, having won 21 of their 25 T20Is played since last year’s T20 World Cup, and will be looking for another win in the next game.

Ahead of the big game in Dubai, let’s look at the head to head of both the teams, pitch report, weather update, top picks for your MPL fantasy team and more.

Weather update and pitch report for IND vs PAK, Asia Cup 2022

Five players to watch out for

Here we list five players you must pick in your MPL fantasy XI IND vs PAK, Asia Cup 2022

Babar Azam – batsman, Pakistan

Captain of the Pakistan team, Babar Azam has scored only 19 runs in two matches of the Asia Cup 2022, and will be looking to get a few runs in the next game. Currently the no. 1 batsman in ICC T20I rankings, Babar Azam has 2705 runs in 76 T20Is at an average and strike rate of 44.34 and 129.30.

Virat Kohli – batsman, India

Virat Kohli, who has been under pressure to score runs, constructed a half century in the recent game against Hong Kong. Earlier against Pakistan, Kohli was the joint second-highest run scorer for India with 35 runs.

Mohammed Rizwan – wicketkeeper batsman, Pakistan

Babar Azam’s opening partner Mohammed Rizwan was the lone warrior with the bat in the earlier fixture against India. Rizwan top scored with a knock of 43 to take Pakistan to a defendable total.  Last year when India and Pakistan met at the T20 World Cup, the opener scored an unbeaten 79.

Hardik Pandya – all-rounder, India

Hardik Pandya, the Player of the Match against Pakistan a week ago, is a good choice for your MPL team’s captaincy. Pandya was sensational with both the bat and ball and was the chief constructor of India’s win. With the ball, he picked up three wickets while conceding 25 runs, and with the bat, the finisher scored an unbeaten 33 off 17. Pandya finished India’s nervous chase with a six in third last ball of the innings.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar – bowler, India

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has had an excellent run in T20Is this year, picked up four wickets against Pakistan last week and will now aim for another match-winning spell. The experienced bowler overall has 78 wickets in 74 T20s for India.
