Match: Australia vs West Indies, (AUS vs WI, 1st T20I)
Date: October 5, 2022 – 1:40 PM IST
Venue: Carrara Oval, Queensland
The defending champions Australia will face the West Indies in two T20Is followed by three versus England as a part of their final preparation ahead of the T20 World Cup which begins in two weeks. The first T20I against West Indies will take place at Carrara Oval also known as the Metricon stadium in Queensland on Wednesday, October 5th.
Australia have had limited T20 action this year, playing only 12 matches. They have won eight games and lost four. The Aussies toured India Recently for a three-match T20I series, where they won the first game but lost the next two.
West Indies haven’t had a great time in the shorter format. They have played 19 T20Is this year, winning just seven and losing 11 of those. In their most recent assignments, they were hammered by India with a 4-1 scoreline before losing to New Zealand by 2-1.
The last time West Indies visited Australia for a limited overs action was way back in 2012-13. The two teams have only faced each other in three T20Is on Australian soil, with the hosts leading the scoreline by 2-1. The series offers West Indies a good preparation ground before they head into the first round of the T20 World Cup for a spot in Super 12s.
