Australia Women vs England Women: 

The defending champions England will kick start their campaign in the women’s ODI World Cup 2022 with a clash against mighty Australia. The two teams will lock horns in the third match of the tournament at Seddon Park in Hamilton on Saturday. 

Led by Meg Lanning, Australia are one of the strongest contenders in the WC. Since the last WC, they have lost only two matches and have won 31 games, including a 26-match streak. Australia hammered New Zealand by 3-0 followed by a 2-1 victory over India. In the women’s Ashes in February, they defeated England by 3-0. Australia won the first warm-up game convincingly but were stunned by NZ in the second. It could be a wake up call for them. 

Heather Knight’s England are another top contender with a strong squad. Before losing in the Ashes, they defeated NZ women by 4-1 in September. Earlier, they claimed a 2-1 series victory over India in June-July. They have gained much-needed momentum in the warm-up matches, beating Bangladesh and South Africa comprehensively.

Nat Sciver: All-rounder, England

Nat Sciver is one of the most skillful players in the game. She has an outstanding record in the fifty-over format, having scored 2275 runs at an average of 39, including three hundreds and 15 fifties. Sciver has snared 55 wickets with her medium pace at a strike rate of 39. She has been in superb form, scoring 45, 47, 108 and 33* in four of her last five innings. Meg Lanning: Batter, Australia

Meg Lanning is one of the biggest superstars in world cricket. She has scored 14 hundreds and 17 fifties in this format. Lanning scored unbeaten 57 against England in the last fixture of the Ashes and hammered 87 in the warm-up game against NZ. Heather Knight: Batter, England

The English captain is one of the top players in women’s cricket. She has 3250 runs to her name in the ODI format at an average of 37, including two hundreds and 22 fifties. Heather Knight has also picked 53 wickets at a strike rate of 33.4, with best figures of 5/26. She will cost you 9.5 credits in the MPL XI.   

Ellyse Perry: All-rounder, Australia

Ellyse Perry has claims on being one of the greatest women’s cricketers to have ever played the game. Her numbers in ODI cricket are outrageous. Perry has 3206 runs at an average of 50, including two hundreds and 22 fifties. The right arm pacer has also claimed 156 wickets in the format at a strike rate of 34.2, with best figures of 7/22. Perry has returned to form in the last few games and is a must pick at 10 credits.
