BAN vs AFG, 3rd Match, Asia Cup 2022 – Fantasy Preview and Top Picks

Match: Bangladesh vs Afghanistan, (BAN vs AFG, 3rd Match, Group B)

Date: August 30, 2022 – 7:30 PM IST

Venue: Sharjah Cricket Stadium

The third match of Asia Cup 2022 will witness Afghanistan and Bangladesh going head to head in a Group B fixture. The two teams will face off at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, August 30.

Bangladesh had an awful campaign in the world cup last year, losing all five group matches. Their fortunes haven’t changed after that either. They have played 11 T20Is since then and have lost eight of those, winning only two.

Bangladesh faced Afghanistan in March this year, where they tied the series 1-1. They later toured the West Indies, losing the three-match series by 2-0. Recently, Bangladesh visited Zimbabwe where they lost by 2-1. They will need to shake off the poor form in the Asia Cup and with the World Cup approaching fast.

Afghanistan began their Asia Cup campaign with a 10-wicket ambush against Sri Lanka at Dubai. Fazalhaq Farooqi set the tone with back to back wickets in the very first over. Mujeeb Ur Rahman then snared 2 for 24 while Mohammad Nabi picked 2 for 14 in four overs.

Farooqi finished with 3 for 11 as they dismantled Sri Lanka for just 105. Rahmanullah Gurbaz then blasted 40 off 17 as he added 83 runs in the powerplay. Hazratullah Zazai remained unbeaten on 35 off 27 as they chased down the target in 10.1 overs.

Pitch Report and Weather Forecast for BAN vs AFG, 3rd Match

Sharjah Cricket Stadium is known for its short size but batting can be difficult here when the pitches are tricky. The average first innings score from 21 T20 matches played at the venue last year reads 144. The number in the last WC read 150 from 11 games.

The weather in Sharjah should be clear and hot on Tuesday evening with no threat of rain. The temperature will be high, around 32°C.
