BAN vs AFG 2nd T20I Fantasy Preview and MPL Top Picks

Match: Bangladesh vs Afghanistan, 2nd T20I (BAN vs AFG)

Date: March 5, Saturday, 2:30 PM IST

Venue: Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka, Bangladesh

After wrapping up an ODI series last week, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are now playing a two-match T20I series, the first of which was won by the hosts comprehensively. Batting first, Bangladesh scored 155 in 20 overs. Litton Das scored a half-century, while Afif Hossain also played a cameo. While 155 seemed to be an insufficient target, Nasum Ahmad and Shoriful Islam made sure that the visitors never got close to the target. Afghanistan were bundled out for 94 runs in 17.4 overs, courtesy seven wickets between Ahmad and Islam.

Afghanistan, who have had a decent run in T20Is over the last eight months, will be looking to avoid a whitewash by putting up a better performance in the second game. They have dropped quite a few senior players for this series to make way for the new ones. The likes of Mohammad Shahzad, Gulbadin Naib and Hashmatullah Shahidi have been left out, while Darwish Rasooli, Azmatullah Omarzai and Nijat Masood have been brought into the squad.

While their bowlers did a good job in the first game, the batsmen botched it up. Fazalhaq Farooqi and Azmatullah Omarzai picked up two wickets each, while Rashid Khan and Qais Ahmed picked up one each.

Ahead of second and final T20I, let’s look at the head to head of both the teams, pitch report, weather update, top picks for your MPL fantasy team and more.

Weather update and pitch report for BAN vs AFG

The track in Mirpur is usually a high scoring one, but the first T20I saw the batsmen struggle and the pitch was largely in favour of the bowlers. Of the 58 matches played here, 29 have been won by the team chasing the target. The average first innings score here is 145, and the spinners are expected to play a bigger role than the fast bowlers.

As for the weather update, the temperature is likely to range from 18 to 30 degree Celsius. It is going to be most sunny with clear skies and we are likely in for an uninterrupted game.

Predicted XI:  Litton Das (wk), Munim Shahriar, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah (c), Yasir Ali, Afif Hossain, Mahedi Hasan, Shoriful Islam, Nasum Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman

Five players to watch out for

Here we list five players you must pick in your MPL fantasy XI for BAN vs AFG, 2nd T20I

Litton Das – Batsman, Bangladesh

Liton Das was the best batsman for Bangladesh in the ODI series against Afghanistan that was played before the T20I series. He scored 136 in the first game, followed by an 86 in the second one. This was followed by a 44-ball 60 in the first T20I that was laced with four boundaries and two maximums. The 27-year-old has played 47 T20Is, scoring more than 900 runs at an average of almost 20 and strike rate of over 123. He has an even better average (22.30) and strike rate (124.68) in other T20s.  His price on MPL for the first T20I is 9 credits.

Shakib Al Hasan – All-rounder, Bangladesh

Shakib Al Hasan skipped the T20I series against Pakistan in November last year, and the opening T20I was his first game in the format since the T20 World Cup. The all-rounder picked up five wickets in the three ODIs against Afghanistan while also scoring 60 runs. Before that, he also impressive in the BPL, where he scored 284 runs at an average and strike rate of 28.40 and 144.16. He was also the third-highest wicket-taker of the season with 16 wickets at an economy of 5.36. Shakib has carried the fine form into T20Is, picking two wickets for 18 runs in his four overs in the first game against Afghanistan. Shakib brings with him the experience of playing 95 T20Is and 362 T20s. He is priced on MPL at 10 credits.

Rashid Khan – Bowler, Afghanistan

The spin sensation picked up five wickets in the ODI series, including three in the last game. And he carried that form into the T20Is. Rashid was the most economical of all bowlers in the first T20I, having conceded just 15 runs in four overs while also picking up a wicket. Last month, the spinner was impressive in the PSL too, where he put up consistent performances, including 4 for 17 and 2 for 19 in his last two outings in the tournament. With over a 100 wickets, Rashid is Afghanistan’s leading wicket-taker in the shortest format and a must-have player in your MPL team. He is priced at 9.5 credits.

Azmatullah Omarzai – All-rounder, Afghanistan

Omarzai, who has played four ODIs for Afghanistan, made his T20I debut in the first T20I. Grabbing the golden opportunity with both hands, Omarzai picked up two wickets on debut at an economy of 7.75. With the bat, he chipped in with 20 runs. Given the impact he made in the first T20I, Omarzai is likely to be retained in the XI for the second game too. He is priced at

Hazratullah Zazai – Batsman, Afghanistan

The explosive batsman did not do anything substantial in the ODIs, and the poor run continued in the T20Is, where he scored just six runs off seven deliveries. But given his exploits in the game’s shortest format, Zazai is still a good pick for your MPL team. The southpaw has a strike rate of nearly 148 in his T20 international career, and he also has a century in the format. He is priced at
