Strikers vs Hurricanes, Eliminator:

The Big Bash League 2021-22 has reached the all-important finals after a grueling league stage. Perth Scorchers, Sydney Sixers, Sydney Thunder, Adelaide Strikers and Hobart Hurricanes are the five teams that have secured a berth in the finals. The Eliminator will be played between the fifth ranked Hobart Hurricanes and the fourth placed Adelaide Strikers at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday.

The Strikers finished fourth on the table with 28 points to their credit from 14 league games. They lost eight matches and only won six but claiming the Bash Boost point in as many as ten matches kept them in good stead. They stormed their way into the finals with four victories on the trot at the business end. They defeated the Sixers in the last game, chasing 162 with eight wickets and 15 balls to spare.

The Hurricanes, on the other hand, started the season well by winning three games in a row but lost their way afterwards. Eventually they qualified for the finals with one match to go and finished fifth with 27 points. They won seven matches and suffered as many losses. The Hurricanes, who rested a few players in the last game, received a thrashing of a lifetime at the hands of Melbourne Stars. The stars blasted 273/2 in 20 overs and the ‘Canes managed 167/7 in response.
