Barbados Royals, who finished at the bottom of the table last season, became the first finalists of the CPL 2022. Facing them will be the Jamaica Tallawahs as both the teams fight for their third CPL title when they meet at Providence Stadium in Guyana on Friday, September 30th.

Barbados Royals have had an incredible campaign so far. They topped the table with 16 points, winning eight out of 10 matches. They then obliterated Jamaica Tallawahs in Qualifier 1 by 87 runs to head straight to the final.

Rahkeem Cornwall was the hero of the match as he hammered 91 runs off just 54 balls with 11 sixes. Azam Khan also smashed 52 off 35 to help Barbados post 195/5 in 20 overs. Ramon Simmonds snared 3 for 17 whereas Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Cornwall picked two scalps each as they shot out Guyana for 108.

Jamaica Tallawahs had to take a more difficult route to the final. They just about managed to finish in the top four with nine points, having won four out of 10 matches. Tallawahs then defeated St Lucia Kings in the Eliminator by 33 runs and Guyana Amazon Warriors in Qualifier 2 by 37 runs.

Shamarh Brooks stepped up for Tallawahs in Qualifier 2 on Wednesday as he blasted an unbeaten 109 off 52 balls. Rovman Powell scored 37 off 23 whereas Imad Wasim smashed 41* off just 15. Brooks and Wasim struck 103 runs for the fifth wicket in just 29 balls to power the team to 226/4. Wasim and Chris Green bagged two wickets each while the rest of the bowlers chipped in as Jamaica restricted Guyana to 189/8.

Pitch Report and Weather Forecast for BBR vs JMT, Final

Providence Stadium in Guyana has historically been a spin friendly venue. However, the pitches have been pretty good for batting this season. The average first innings score from nine matches played here in the CPL 2022 reads 172. The team batting first has won seven out of these nine matches.

Jason Holder: All-rounder, Barbados Royals

Jason Holder is the second highest wicket-taker in the CPL 2022, having picked 16 wickets in 11 games at an economy of 7.05. He has also scored 138 runs in eight innings at a strike rate of 125 while being dismissed twice. Holder has 190 wickets in his T20 career along with over 1600 runs.

Rovman Powell: Batter, Jamaica Tallawahs

Rovman Powell has been a key player for Jamaica in the middle order, scoring 267 runs from 11 innings at an average of 33 and strike rate of 125. Powell has smashed two fifties in the tournament. He scored 37 off 23 and picked 1 for 12 in the Qualifier 2.

Imad Wasim: All-rounder, Jamaica Tallawahs

The Pakistan all-rounder has been incredible with both bat and ball this season. Imad Wasim has snared 16 wickets in the season at an economy of 6.12 while scoring 138 runs at an average of 20. He was excellent in the Qualifier 2, smashing 41* off 15 and picking 2 for 25 in four overs.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman: Bowler, Barbados Royals

The Afghanistan spinner has been terrific for Barbados Royals in the ongoing tournament. He has picked 10 wickets in six games at an economy of 5.13. He’s coming off a superb 2 for 21 in the last game. Mujeeb has taken 213 wickets in the shorter format at an economy of 6.57.
