Belgium will host Poland in Group 4 match in the UEFA Nations League in Brussels.
The Red Devils suffered humiliation at the hand of the Netherlands in the last match as they conceded four goals in a very hapless performance. Memphis Depay netted a brace while Steven Bergwijn and Denzel Dumfries also registered their name on the score sheet. Michy Batshuayi pegged one back for the host side.
Belgium supposedly have one of the best squads on paper but their failure to win a major trophy has been haunting them for a long. The likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, Youri Tielemans and Eden Hazard are quite successful in club football but their form hasn’t been reflected in their national side.
They also lost their number one FIFA ranking and will be determined to get back to winning ways. De Bruyne has amassed the most number of assists in the last five Premier League seasons and he will be ready to take down the Polish team.
Roberto Martinez’s side hasn’t been at their best in the last few matches and they have managed to grind up just two wins out of seven in all competitions.
Poland registered a win in their first Nations League game against Wales and their red hot form should provide them an edge against the Belgians. Jakub Kaminski and Karol Swiderski netted for Poland while Jonny Williams scored a consolation for Wales in the last match.
Poland didn’t have a smooth World Cup qualifying stage but they did have the upper hand over Sweden in the playoffs and they have been pretty consistent in recent years.
They have won seven of their last ten games in all competitions and have had the knack of scoring at least one goal in their last 19 matches. Robert Lewandowski remains a goal poacher and his presence on the pitch means the Belgian defender will have to keep some extra strides to keep him bay from the goal.
