Match: Chennai Super Kings vs Mumbai Indians (CSK vs MI)
Date:October 23, 2020
Venue: Sharjah Cricket Stadium – Sharjah, United Arab Emirates
Chennai Super Kings are currently on the bottom of the points table and another loss will officially put an end to their IPL 2020 campaign. Their batting has lacked sting while their bowling has been well below-par, to say the least. Though the MS Dhoni-led side had defeated Mumbai Indians in the tournament opener, they have only gone downhill from then, with just two more wins in 11 games.
Mumbai, on the other hand, have been top notch in the tournament. They will enter the game after a tight loss to Kings XI Punjab in two Super Overs, and will be looking to get back to winning ways. Every batsman in the MI team is in excellent form, while the fast bowling duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult have been impressive both at the death and with the new ball. They, thus, enter the game as firm favourites.
The weather in Sharjah will be warm and dry with temperatures hovering around the 38-degree mark.
The wicket in Sharjah had aided big hits in the first half of the tournament, but of late, the wicket has gotten slower. Batting is not the easiest at the venue, especially if a side is chasing. A target of anything around 175 will be considered par and competitive.
The teams that will win the toss might opt to bat first as the wicket is getting slower with each passing day. However, the team that chased won the last two games, and if there is dew the skipper winning the toss will have a difficult choice to make.
CSK Expected XI and Team News
Chennai Super Kings are down in the dumps, but MS Dhoni is unlikely to make many changes to the XI. He has hard;y given youngsters a chance in this tournament, and has instead backed out of form players such as Kedar Jadhav and Ambati Rayudu. Imran Tahir has been warming the bench, and it remains to be seen if he is given a chance. Dwayne Bravo has been ruled out of IPL 2020.
Faf du Plessis: The South African is the highest run-scorer for CSK with four fifties to his name. He has been giving his team steady starts and will be expected to lead the charge yet again.
Ravindra Jadeja: The all-rounder has batted decently in the last few games, and even has a 50 to his name. He has been economical in the last few matches too.
Sam Curran, Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (C&wk), Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Chahar, Piyush Chawla, Josh Hazlewood, Shardul Thakur

Mumbai Indians have played only 13 cricketers in IPL 2020 – which tells us that the team does not like changing their XI. Despite a close loss in the last match, Mumbai might go in with the same side.
