Match: Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (CSK vs RCB)
Date:October 10, 2020
Venue: Dubai Cricket Stadium – Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Both Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore have been inconsistent this season and will be looking to get back to winning ways when they take on each other in the second match on Saturday. CSK started the edition with a convincing win over Mumbai Indians, but have managed just one win from five games since then. They come into the game on the back of a loss against Kolkata Knight Riders, where they had failed to chase 168 for a win.
RCB, on the other hand, have three wins from five matches but they have been inconsistent. They have two big losses in this edition – losing to Kings XI Punjab by 97 runs and by 59 runs against Delhi Capitals, which shows that they have blown hot and cold thus far.
A hot day with temperatures near 40 degrees awaits. A sunny, humid and a clear Saturday awaits.
The ground at Abu Dhabi has plenty of help for the bowlers in the second half of the innings. A total of 175 can be challenging as the track slows down as the match progresses.
Teams will want to put up runs on the board at the venue. Teams have a clear advantage at Dubai if they have batted first, with just one team winning while chasing. The skipper that wins the toss, thus, will be looking to set a target.
CSK Expected XI and Team News
Despite CSK losing their last game they are unlikely to make any changes for this game. They do not have the strongest bench, which might mean that CSK persists with out of form players such as Kedar Jadhav. They need a way to bring Imran Tahir in the XI, but with all four foreign players doing well, the South African might have to warm the bench yet again.
Faf du Plessis: The South African is in fine batting form. He has three fifties in six games, and had scored a fine unbeaten 87 against Kings XI Punjab, and will be looking to lay a solid foundation at the top once again.
Sam Curran: The youngster was back top picking wickets in the last game, and now has seven from six games. He can also hit the ball a long way, and has a strike rate of more than 160 this season.
Shane Watson, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (c, wk), Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja, Kedar Jadhav, Deepak Chahar, Piyush Chawla, Lungi Ngidi
RCB Expected XI and Team News
RCB have constantly chopped and changed their line-up this season. According to reports, Chris Morris is fit and might be slotted in the XI in place of Isuru Udana.
Virat Kohli: The RCB skipper had not been in the best touch in the first few games but has started to find form. He comes into the game on the back of an unbeaten 72 and a 42 in his last two innings.
AB de Villiers: The South Africa has hit two fifties so far in IPL 2020, against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians respectively.
Aaron Finch, Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli (c), AB de Villiers (wk), Shivam Dube, Moeen Ali, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Dale Steyn, Navdeep Saini, Mohammad Siraj
Head to head record of CSK vs RCB:
The two teams have played 24 games over the seasons, with CSK having a huge advantage. They have won 16 matches that have been held between the two sides while RCB have won just 8.
MPL Fantasy Prediction for CSK vs RCB:
WK: AB de Villiers and MS Dhoni both have been among the runs, but the RCB wicket-keeper has been picked in the MPL fantasy team. He is in top form and will be batting higher up the order as well.
Batsmen: Virat Kohli is yet another crucial player for RCB, and deserves a look in. Faf du Plessis has three fifties and is in excellent form, while Shane Watson has got back to form with two successive fifties. All three are more than 9 credits, but they are all worth picking as they can be game changers.
All-rounders: Four all-rounders have been picked in the MPL fantasy team. Sam Curran was back to wickets in the last game and can also hit some quick runs lower down the order. Ravindra Jadeja costs nine credits and recently scored a fifty. Dwayne Bravo picked up three wickets in the last game, and is a top selection at just 8.5 credits. Washington Sundar has been excellent for RCB in the powerplay overs. He just costs eight credits, and will allow us to balance credits.
Bowlers: Imran Tahir is unlikely to get a game, which means that Yuzvendra Chahal is the only spinning option in the team. He costs nine credits, which leaves us with 17 credits. Navdeep Saini has been impressive at the death, while Deepak Chahar can swing the ball both ways in the powerplay.
Captain and VC: AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis
Match Prediction for CSK vs RCB:
Both teams lack confidence and will be eager for a win in this clash. On paper, RCB look the more all-round side, but we can never rule out the class of CSK. They are the most consistent team in the history of the IPL, and will know how to bounce back after being pushed into a corner. For that reason alone CSK are the slight favourites.
Chennai Super Kings are the favourites to win.
