CSK vs SRH, IPL 2020: MPL Fantasy Preview, Match Predictions, Probable XI

Match: Chennai Super Kings vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (CSK vs SRH)

Date:October 02, 2020

Venue: Dubai Cricket Stadium – Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Both SRH and CSK will be looking to find some momentum when they take on each other on Friday. The two teams have just one win each, and are placed in the bottom half of the points table. CSK, who were without Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh for IPL 2020, have lost successive matches, and looked out of sorts against Rajasthan and Delhi. Apart from Faf du Plessis, no batter has looked comfortable, and they will want to find some momentum going forward.

SRH, on the other hand, won their last game after losing to RCB and KKR. They seem too reliant on their openers, and it is time their middle order comes to the party.

Weather Update:

A hot day with temperatures near 40 degrees awaits teams. There is no prediction of rain. A humid day is on the cards. The evening will be clear, with a slight breeze.

Pitch Report:

The pitch here has kept low and slow, and a score of anything around 165 can be competitive. Both teams have plenty of world class spinners, and it will be interesting to see who comes out trumps.

Toss Prediction:

The team that wins the toss will be looking to bat first. Both teams rely on putting scores on the board, which their spinners can defend.

CSK Expected XI and Team News

CSK will have Ambati Rayudu and Dwayne Bravo fit for this clash. Rayudu is expected to slot into the XI straightaway in place of Ruturaj Gaikwad. Imran Tahir needs to find a place in the team as well, as the conditions here will suit his bowling side. He can come in place of Watson.

Key players:

Faf du Plessis: The South African has been the only bright spark for CSK this season, with three fifties in as many games. He will be their key player yet again, and can be asked to open if Watson is dropped.

Sam Curran: The all-rounder has impressed with both bat and ball this season. He has played crucial cameos, and is expected to retain his spot in the team despite Bravo being fit for the clash.

Predicted XI:

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shane Watson/Dwayne Bravo, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu,  MS Dhoni (c/wk), Kedar Jadhav/N Jagadeesan, Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, Piyush Chawla, Josh Hazlewood, Deepak Chahar.

SRH Expected XI and Team News

SRH will come into the game after a clinical win against Delhi. They got Kane Williamson into the team last time, and are unlikely to tinker with the XI for this clash, even though it means Mohammad Nabi will be on the bench.

Key Players:

David Warner: The Aussie is an impactful player, though he is yet to get going this season. He has gotten starts this season and will be eager to convert them into a big score. He won the Orange Cap last season and will be the key for SRH yet again.

Kane Williamson: The Kiwi came back into the team last game and created an impact right away, scoring a quick 41. He will be anchoring the innings, and can be backed to come good against a tough team like CSK.

Predicted XI:

David Warner (c), Jonny Bairstow (wk), Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson, Priyam Garg, Abdul Samad, Abhishek Sharma, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, K Khaleel Ahmed, T Natarajan

Head to head record of CSK vs SRH:

Chennai have a huge advantage between the two teams, winning 9 of the 12 games that they have played. SRH have won just three, but with the conditions here suiting both sides, they will be hoping to reduce the gap.

MPL Fantasy Prediction for CSK vs SRH:

WK:  Jonny Bairstow will open the innings, and played a good hand in SRH’s opening game. He is a better choice than MS Dhoni, who has been batting lower down the order, and is not in the greatest form.

Batsmen: Kane Williamson played a fien cameo against Delhi last game, and made an impact straightaway after being benched for the first two games. His SRH teammates David Warner and Manish Pandey find a place in the MPL team as well. While the Aussie is dangerous if he gets going, Pandey has played vital knocks this season. Ffa has been the best batsmen for CSK, while Rayudu had smashed a fifty in CSK’s opening game before he was sidelined due to injury.

All-rounders: Sam Curran has impressed with both the bat and ball this season. He has been economical and has helped his team with the bat in the death overs, and is one of the most important players for the franchise this year.

Bowlers: Rashid Khan came back to form in the last game, and will find the conditions in Dubai to his liking. Josh Hazlewoodd and Deepak Chahar have been doing a decent job for CSK in the powerplay overs with the new ball. T Natarajan impressed with his yorkers against Delhi, and will be looking to stifle the CSK batters in the upcoming game as well.

Captain and VC: David Warner and Kane Williamson

Match Prediction for CSK vs SRH:

Both teams look out of form and head into the clash under considerable pressure. However, on paper, CSK have the upper hand. They have a world-class skipper in MS Dhoni, and the six-day break would have allowed them to get back to the drawing board. They have greater balance than SRH, and hence enter the game as favourites, but only slightly.

We expect Chennai Super Kings to win.
