DEL vs HYD – What to expect:

The second phase of the Indian T20 League 2021 has gotten off to a splendid start. Match no. 33 will witness Team Hyderabad taking on Team Delhi at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, September 22.

Team Delhi had an outstanding start to the season, winning six out of eight matches. They’re sitting at the second position with 12 points, with a net run-rate of +0.547. Team Hyderabad, on the other hand, had an abysmal first half, where they lost six out of seven matches. They’re reeling at the bottom of the table and need to win at least six matches to have a shot at playoffs. The last clash between the two sides earlier this season had resulted in a tie, which Delhi had won in a super over.

Pitch Report of DEL vs HYD

Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the UAE usually favours spinners but the pacers have found significant assistance in the last two years. The average first innings score in overall T20s at this venue is 158, which often proves a winning total as chasing has not been easy at Dubai. The average total batting first here in the 2020 season was 172. The pitch in the first game of this season was green, with the pacers having a great time. The weather is expected to be clear, with the temperature hovering around 34°.

Delhi – Expected XI and Team News

The Covid-19 break has helped Team Delhi as they’ve got Shreyas Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin back. Iyer missed out on the first phase due to an injury while Ashwin had opted out midway due to personal reasons. Chris Woakes, like many English players, has opted out of the UAE leg and was replaced by Ben Dwarshuis. The participation of Sam Billings is also not clear as he reached the UAE late.

Probable XI – Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (captain/wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Avesh Khan

Hyderabad – Expected XI and Team News

Bairstow’s absence means David Warner, who was dropped from the playing XI, will be back at the top of the order. T Natarajan has returned to full fitness after suffering an injury earlier this year.

Probable XI – David Warner, Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson (captain), Kedar Jadhav (wk), Vijay Shankar, Abdul Samad, Jason Holder, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Sharma, T Natarajan
