England vs India, One-off Test:
India are in the UK for an all-format series, comprising the fifth Test, three ODIs and three T20Is. The two teams are set to collide in the fifth Test – part of the unfinished series last year – at Edgbaston in Birmingham from Friday, July 1. India leads the series by 2-1 and will be looking to clinch it whereas England will be desperate to draw it.
Both the teams have had a change of leadership from the last time they met. India have captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid at the helm while England have Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum. England have vowed to play an attacking brand of Test cricket under the new regime. They hammered the World Test champions New Zealand by 3-0 in Stokes’ very first assignment. In those three games, England chased down 277, 299 and 296.
India had lost their away series against South Africa by 2-1 earlier this year but smashed Sri Lanka at home by heavy margins in March. As for the Test Championship, they sit outside the top two with 77 points from 11 matches – a points percentage of 58.33. The visitors will have their eyes set on crucial 12 points and series victory at Edgbaston.
