After winning the first T20I comprehensively, England lost the second T20I to South Africa by 58 runs and both the teams will now look to seal the series when the third T20I gets underway on Sunday in Southampton.
The Jos Buttler-led side won the series opener by 41 runs after successfully defending a target of 234. Jonny Bairstow scored 90 runs off 53 balls while Moeen Ali scored 52 off only 18 balls. For South Africa, Reeza Hendricks and Tristan Subbs scored half centuries but with not much contribution from the rest of the batsmen, they fell short of the target by 41 runs.
In the second T20I, an unbeaten 96 by Rilee Rossouw and a half century by Reeza Hendricks took South Africa to a total of 207 in their 20 overs. Later, their bowlers put up a brilliant show to bundle out the hosts for 149 runs in 16.4 overs. Andile Phehlukwayo and Tabraiz Shamsi picked up three wickets each, while Lungi Ngidi, who picked up five wickets in the opening T20I, chipped in with two.

Jonny Bairstow was the highest run-scorer for England in the first T20I against South Africa. Bairstow scored 90 runs off 53 balls with the help of three boundaries and eight maximums. He got a good start in the second T20I (30), but was not able to convert it. The batsman brings with him the experience of 65 T20Is, from which he has 1310 runs at an average of over 27 and an impressive strike rate of almost 138. This includes eight half centuries.
Moeen Ali – all-rounder, England
Moeen Ali is another must have player in your MPL team. He was England’s best performer in the first T20I with a knock of 52 off only 18 balls at a strike rate of more than 280. Later in the game he picked up a wicket as well. In the second game, he contributed with 27 runs and a wicket. Dawid Malan – batsman, England
Dawid Malan is one of the best batsmen in the game’s shortest format. Quinton de Kock – wicketkeeper batsman, South Africa
Quinton de Kock has failed to contribute in both the games but a player of his experience is still indispensable to your MPL team. Recently he scored an unbeaten 92 against England and will be looking to find his form in the next game.
