England Women vs South Africa Women, 1st ODI

Having played out a draw in the only Test, South Africa and England women now set their sights on the ODI series, comprising three matches. The first ODI will take place at the County Ground in Northampton on Monday, July 11.

This series doesn’t count towards the Women’s Championship but gives both the teams an opportunity to rebuild. England haven’t played any fifty-over cricket since their loss to Australia in the ODI World Cup earlier in April. These two teams had met in the semi-final of the tournament, where England hammered South Africa by 137 runs.

South Africa women faced Ireland recently in a three-match series and were dominant in all three. After winning the first two matches by nine wickets, they smashed the hosts by 189 runs in the third ODI.

The Test played between the two teams earlier saw some competitive action amidst rain interruptions. The contest had a few top performers in Nat Sciver, Marizanne Kapp and Kate Cross.
