England Women vs South Africa Women, 7th Match:

The 7th match of the women’s T20 competition in the Commonwealth Games 2022 will feature England and South Africa women going head to head in a Group B fixture. The two teams will clash at the Edgbaston in Birmingham on Tuesday, August 2.

England women are coming off a five-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in their opening game of the tournament. England’s bowlers were on song on Saturday as they restricted Sri Lanka to only 106/9 in 20 overs. Sophie Ecclestone snared 3 for 25 in her four overs while Freya Kemp and Issy Wong picked two scalps each.  Chasing the target, England were in a bit of a bother, losing 4 for 63 in 10.1 overs. But Alice Capsey’s 44 and Maia Bouchier’s 21 not out was enough to take them over the line.

South Africa, on the other hand, lost their first match of the competition by 13 runs at the hands of New Zealand. Their bowling attack had no answers to New Zealand openers, Suzie Bates in particular, who went on to score an unbeaten 91 off 64 to post 167/2. Mignon du Preez (26) and Laura Wolvaardt (28) had starts but couldn’t convert. Chloe Tryon smashed 39 off 17 while Sune Luus made 18-ball 32 but the target proved to be too steep.
