Consistency is one of the underrated aspects of the T20 format. But some batters have managed to star with the bat scoring consistently for the team. Dawid Malan is one of those players who is the fastest to complete 1000 T20I runs in just 24 innings. He has so far scored 1748 runs in 53 T20I innings at a strike rate of close to 136 and an average of almost 39.
Interestingly, Sabawoon Davizi of the Czech Republic also completed 1000 runs in T20I in only 24 innings. He reached the milestone against France at Kerava cricket ground in July last year. Davizi has been one of the star batters for the Czech Republic ever since making his debut in October 2019. He has so far scored 1093 runs at a brilliant strike rate of 140.48 and an average of 43.72.
Current Pakistan skipper Babar Azam was already tipped to break records since he made his international debut. He didn’t disappoint his fans by completing 1000 runs in T20I cricket in only 26 innings. The amount of consistency he has shown in the format is unmatched. He has so far played 99 T20Is for Pakistan and amassed 3355 runs in 94 innings at a brilliant average of 41.41 and a strike rate of almost 128. He reached the milestone of 1000 runs against New Zealand in Dubai in November 2018.
Devon Conway, the New Zealand opener, made light work of scoring runs at the international level at the start of his career. He also took only 26 innings to complete 1000 runs in T20Is after making his T20I debut in November 2020. By October 2022, the man had breached the four-figure mark. Conway has now played 35 T20Is and scored 1170 runs in 32 outings at an average of 48.75 and a strike rate of 130.58.
Former India skipper Virat Kohli once was the quickest to reach 1000 runs in T20 Internationals. He completed the milestone in just 27 innings in October 2015 itself after making his debut in the format in 2010. Kohli also scored his first and only ton in T20Is in Asia Cup last year against Afghanistan. So far, he has played 115 T20Is and scored 4008 runs in 107 innings at an impeccable average of 52.73 and a strike rate of 137.96.
Australia’s T20I skipper Aaron Finch reached the milestone of 1000 runs in T20Is in 29 innings in 2017. He has scored 3120 runs in 103 T20Is so far with the highest score of 172 runs in his career. His average of 34.28 and strike rate of 142.53 makes him one of the best T20 cricketers in Australia. Though Finch is still not certain about his future in the format, the man still has in it and has played a couple of match-winning knocks in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) season.
Like Aaron Finch, India’s KL Rahul also reached the milestone of 1000 runs only in 29 innings. He is India’s one of the top batters and while opening the innings, the man has played a lot of memorable knocks for the Men in Blue. Rahul has so far played 72 T20Is so far and has scored 2265 runs at an average of 37.75 and the strike rate of 139.12. However, Rahul didn’t have a great T20 World Cup and it remains to be seen if he will be able to back to playing big knocks for the team.
Mohammad Rizwan of Pakistan is next on the list of fastest runs in T20I cricket. He managed to reach the 1000-run mark in the shortest format of the game in July 2021. It took six years for him to complete 1000 runs in the format having made his T20I debut back in 2015. Rizwan opens the innings for Pakistan and has played 80 matches so far scoring 2635 runs at an average of 48.79 and a strike rate of almost 127. His strike rate at times comes under the scanner but Rizwan has hit one century and 23 half-centuries in his career and looks set to add more to his tally.
Suryakumar Yadav has certainly changed the dynamics of batting in T20 cricket ever since he has made his international debut. He reached the milestone against South Africa last year in October. Surya took 31 innings to complete 1000 runs in the shortest format of the game. Currently, he has three centuries to his name in T20Is to go with 13 fifties after featuring only 45 T20Is. Interestingly, his strike rate of 180.34 is the best for any batter in this form of the sport.
