FCB vs RBL, Bundesliga 2021/22: MPL Preview, Predictions, & Fantasy Team

Bayern Munich welcomes fellow Bundesliga heavyweights RB Leipzig on Saturday evening at the Allianz Arena in the weekend’s marquee matchup. Bayern Munich is currently in first place in the Bundesliga standings.

The hosts will be seeking to increase their lead at the top of the table, while the visitors will be wanting to maintain the excellent form they have shown under their new manager before the international break

Bayern Munich suffered an unexpected 2-1 loss at home to Borussia Monchengladbach on the first day after returning from the winter break. Borussia Dortmund rallied from a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2 at Eintracht Frankfurt the following weekend, reducing the gap at the top of the table from nine points to six after the return from the winter break.

Following that, BVB took full advantage of a later start on the weekend of matchday 19 to thrash Freiburg and momentarily reduce the deficit to three points, but Bayern has reacted in a true champion-like manner in recent weeks.

The fact that Dortmund is not scheduled to play until Sunday presents the league leaders with a chance to re-impose pressure on their rivals, even though they will be tested by RB Leipzig, who will provide them with one of their toughest tests of the Bundesliga season.

This weekend, Nagelsmann will be looking to put another one over his former club. He will be hoping to increase his current side’s lead at the top of the table by defeating them again on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the visitors Leipzig have a new manager in place, replacing the one who was responsible for the 4-1 thrashing earlier in the season.

Since then, Domenico Tedesco has taken over for his predecessor Jesse Marsch, and the former Spartak Moscow manager has presided over a successful start to his term thus far.

Tedesco can at the very least assure that Champions League football will be played at the Red Bull Arena again next season, even though they have no realistic chance of challenging Bayern for the championship this season due to the vast 18-point difference that now exists between the two clubs.

Before his arrival, that goal had been in serious question, but Leipzig enter matchday 21 with just a three-point margin between them and Union Berlin in the race for the top four.

Having failed to defeat the champions in each of their previous eight encounters, they might see their gap grow even further at the weekend, but they can take heart from their back-to-back draws at the Allianz Arena on their most recent two occasions.

FCB vs RBL, Bundesliga 2021/22

Date: 5th February 2022

Time: 11:00pm IST

Venue: Allianz Arena

Form Guide:

Julian Nagelsmann’s team regained their six-point lead the following weekend after a 4-0 thrashing of FC Koln. A 4-1 thumping of Hertha Berlin the weekend before the international break ensured that the Bavarians retained their six-point advantage heading into this weekend’s match.

Even though Nagelsmann has already seen his team suffer two shock losses at the Allianz Arena this season, he is preparing his players to face his old employers to replicate their success at the Red Bull Arena in September.

With five victories from his seven games in charge across all competitions, Die Roten Bullen has been able to turn around their stuttering start to the season, progressing to the quarter-finals of the DFB-Pokal and moving up to sixth place in the standings as a result of this.

Bayern Munich Bundesliga form:

W-W-W-L-W-W

RB Leipzig Bundesliga form:

W-D-L-W-W-W

FCB vs RBL Head-To-Head:

Even though these two teams just played for the first time in 2016, this match has become a heavily weighted fixture in German football in recent years. Die Roten has dominated the games, which are now mostly a top-of-the-table Bundesliga showdown between the top-four teams.

Bayern has won eight of their 13 meetings against Leipzig, while Leipzig has only managed one victory – in 2018.

With three of the teams’ four draws occurring in their previous five meetings, it’s clear that Leipzig is on the verge of becoming a German superpower, but Bayern’s two consecutive victories – the most recent of which was a comprehensive 4-1 thrashing earlier in the 2021/22 season – indicate that they are still unquestionably the better and superior team.

Team News:

Bayern Munich possible starting lineup:

Manuel Neuer; Pavard, Upamecano, Sule, Hernandez; Joshua Kimmich, Tolisso; Serge Gnabry, Muller, Leroy Sane; Robert Lewandowski

RB Leipzig possible starting lineup:

Gulacsi; Simakan, Orban, Gvardiol; Mukiele, Haidara, Kampl, Angelino; Dominik Szoboszlai, Nkunku; Andre Silva

Predictions FCB vs RBL:

Jesse Marsch’s poor and short-lived term as coach at the start of the season was certainly a setback for Tedesco’s team. The fact that they have players like Christopher Nkunku, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Andre Silva in their ranks means that they pose a big danger. It is never easy to dehtorne the champions of Germany, who are the favourites once again.

Bayern Munich, on the other hand, is a much larger danger than anybody else. Their home support will also be a factor that will add to the chances of their already top-notch squad. Bayern’s domestic dominance seems to be impenetrable, thanks in part to the presence of the just amazing Robert Lewandowski, who is surrounded by some of the best creative talents on the globe.

The matchup promises to be an attractive and fascinating one, although Bayern Munich is unquestionably the favourite to come away with the win.

Prediction: FCB 3-1 RBL
