FCB vs RBS, UCL 2021/22: MPL Preview, Predictions & Fantasy Team

Bayern Munich will take on Red Bull Salzburg in the second leg of their last-16 tie in the Champions League on Tuesday, 8th March, with the ambitions of going through to the next round.

If they win, Bayern Munich will be assured of a place in the quarter-finals of the European Champions League, which would be something that the fans would expect of them. The game is finely placed after a 1-1 draw in the first leg last month, with Kingsley Coman scoring a late equaliser for Bayern after Chukwubuike Adamu had given the home side the lead in the 21st minute of the first leg last month.

Despite being below par in the first leg last month, Bayern managed to draw level in the dying minutes of the game through Kingsley Coman. The result made it 22 away games without a defeat in the Champions League for Bayern, and they will be confident in their ability to complete the job in front of their own fans on Wednesday night.

For the 18th time in the club’s history, they have reached the knockout phase of this tournament after winning all six of their Group E games and finishing first in the section. They defeated Barcelona twice in the process.

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich were knocked out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals last season, and they have reached the quarter-finals or better nine times in their last ten seasons, so it would be a huge surprise if the German side were not present in the final eight, despite Salzburg being the underdogs in their matchup with Bayern Munich.

Against Austrian opponents, Bayern has won all five of their home games in the competition, scoring a total of 15 goals in the process. This includes a 3-1 win over Salzburg when the two sides met in the group stage of the 2020-21 competition, while they put six past the Austrian outfit in the away fixture.

As a result of a 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga on Saturday, Julian Nagelsmann’s team is nine points ahead of second-placed Borussia Dortmund at the top of the league heading into this match.

Salzburg qualified for the knockout phase of the Champions League this season by finishing second in Group G, earning a total of 10 points from their six matches against Lille, Sevilla, Wolfsburg.

With two wins from three league matches, including a convincing 4-0 victory against Rheindorf Altach on Saturday, the Red Bulls have been in fine form since the first leg last month.

Austria’s Salzburg has already played against German opposition in this season’s competition, winning 3-1 at home against Wolfsburg in the group stage before losing 2-1 in the reverse fixture in Germany, and they will need to pull off a famous result against Bayern Munich on Tuesday if they are to advance to the quarter-finals of the competition.

Even though Matthias Jaissle’s team won an unprecedented seventh consecutive Bundesliga championship last season, they only managed one point on the road in the group stage of this season’s Champions League, which is a worrying record ahead of a trip to the Allianz Arena.

Aside from that, Salzburg has lost nine of their past 15 European away games, and they have been defeated in six of their last nine games in Germany, collecting just two victories in the process.

When it comes to the history of this match, Bayern Munich has a tiny advantage, having claimed two victories from the previous five encounters between the two teams. Salzburg has only secured one victory in that time span, with the other two games ending in draws.

FCB vs RBS Team News:

Bayern Munich will be without Manuel Neuer, Leon Goretzka, and Alphonso Davies for the second leg of their Champions League tie against Real Madrid.

Thomas Muller, on the other hand, has returned to fitness and is eligible to play, and it is assumed that he will start for the Germans.

Salzburg will also have to deal with a lot of injuries if they are to pull off a surprise in Munich this weekend.

In attack, Chukwubuike Adamu and Karim Adeyemi are both expected to start for Salzburg, with the former having scored his team’s lone goal in the first leg.

Bayern Munich possible starting lineup:

Ulreich; Pavard, Sule, Hernandez; Gnabry, Kimmich, Musiala, Coman; Muller, Sane; Lewandowski

Red Bull Salzburg possible starting lineup:

Kohn; Kristensen, Piatkowski, Wober, Ulmer; Camara; Capaldo, Aaronson, Seiwald; Adamu, Adeyemi

After surprising Bayern Munich with a 1-1 draw in the opposite game, Salzburg has established themselves to be legitimate opponents for the Bavarians. On Tuesday, though, we anticipate the Germans to come out with all guns blazing in order to prevent a shock. While we anticipate Salzburg to put up another strong fight, we believe Bayern Munich will come away with the victory.

Score Prediction- FCB 2-1 RBS
