Match: Guyana Amazon Warriors vs Jamaica Tallawahs
Date: August 22, 2020
Venue: Brian Lara Stadium – Tarouba, Trinidad And Tobago
Runners-up of CPL 2019, Guyana Amazon Warriors, will look to continue their winning run when they take on Jamaica Tallawahs in their third match of the season. The Warriors went down to Trinbago Knight Riders in their opener, but bounced back in style in the last game against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, with Shimron Hetmyer leading the way. The talented youngster got his second successive fifty in the tournament, and helped his side chase down 128 in just 17 overs. Earlier, Keemo Paul had starred with the ball, picking up 4 for 19.
Tallawahs, on the other hand, got off to a win in their opener, chasing down 159 with ease. Pakistan’s Asif Ali had smashed an unbeaten 47 from just 27 deliveries to lead his team to a five-wicket win with seven balls to spare. They, however, were unable to get points in their second match, losing to TKR despite Glenn Phillip’s 58 in their total of 135 for 8 in 20 overs.
Weather and Pitch Conditions:
While there are predictions of thunderstorms in Tarouba, this game might see a full 20-over encounter per side without disruptions. The pitch has been well balanced thus far in the edition, offering plenty of help for the bowlers as well as the batters. A target of 160 will be considered par.
Warriors Expected XI and Team News
Warriors stuck with the same XI in the last game despite losing their opener. They bounced back in style to register a convincing win against the Patriots and are expected to field the same eleven.
Imran Tahir: The 40-year old South African has not let age affect his bowling as he has been consistent as ever. He has already picked up 4 wickets in the edition, with 2 for 40 in the opening game and figures of 2 for 18 last time around.
Shimron Hetmyer: The West Indian batting star has been consistent in CPL 2020, smashing two fifties in the two games that he has played. While he hit an unbeaten 63 against TKR, he scored 71 in the last match that helped his team to a win.
Keemo Paul: The player had pitched in with an all-round showing in the opener, hitting an unbeaten 15 and following it up with 1 for 21. He bettered his performance last time around, picking up 4 for 19, which derailed the Patriots’ innings.

Tallawahs Expected XI and Team News
The Tallawahs dropped Veerasammy Permaul in the last game despite the spinner picking up two wickets in their opener. He was replaced by Ramaal Lewis, who proved to be expensive. Permaul could return for this game, which could be the only change in the XI for the Tallawahs.
Glenn Phillips: Phillips started CPL 2020 on an aggressive note, hitting 44 from just 29 balls as his side raced away to a win. He continued in the same vein against TKR as well, scoring a fifty from 42 balls, though his efforts went in vain.
Andre Russell: Though the big hitter is yet to hit a six in this edition thus far, he is one of the most ferocious T20 batters, who can in no way be counted out. He has an excellent record with both bat and ball and will be eager to kick on.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman: The Afghan spinner has proved why he is so revered in the format, picking up 3 wickets in two games thus far. He has kept things tight, conceding just 38 runs in his eight overs that he has sent down in CPL 2020.

MPL Fantasy Prediction:
WK: Chadwick Walton might not be a big name like Nicholas Pooran, but he is a good differential to pick in the team. Walton is as capable of smashing runs like Pooran and the fact that he costs 0.5 credits less means that we can choose a higher-priced all-rounder in the MPL fantasy team.
Batsmen: Glenn Phillips and Hetmyer have started the tournament with good knocks at the top of the order. Though they both cost 9.5 credits, they are worth the amount spent. Brandon King is yet to fire, but he showed his credentials last year. Asif Ali is an excellent pick at 8.5 credits. He has already proved why he is one of the underrated players this year, with a match-winning knock in his team’s opening clash.
All-rounders: Russell might be a surprise pick considering that he is yet to fire and costs 10.5 credits. But if there is one player in the T20 format who should never be counted out, it remains Russell. Keemo Paul picked up four wickets in the last game and is in fine form, while Chandrapaul Hemraj displayed his talents in CPL 2019.
Bowlers: Imran Tahir is priced at 9.5 credits, but is one of the legends who should always find a spot in any fantasy team. He has picked up four wickets already and can be expected to be among the wickets yet again. Mujeeb too has been in excellent form and is a must-pick at nine credits. Only eight credits are left, and I have gone ahead with Romario Shepherd, who is a good option and can be the X-factor.
Captain and VC: Andre Russell and Imran Tahir
Both teams have plenty of big match-winners, and it is difficult to choose the winners of this clash. It will be a battle of Guyana’s bowling might against Tallawahs’ batting, but I back the latter to come out on top. The Tallawahs have a number of aggressive finishers, who can run away with the game on their day.
Jamaica Tallawahs are expected to win.
