League leaders Real Madrid look unstoppable at the moment

A sign of good teams is that they always find a way to make a grand comeback. Real Madrid, one of the most accomplished teams in international football, are a testament to that, as they are getting back to their best after a rare slump.

The Los Blancos saw their local rivals Atletico Madrid lifting the La Liga title last season, but they have done exceptionally well to emerge as frontrunners for the 2021/22 edition. Having accumulated 46 points from 19 matches, Carlo Ancelotti’s men are currently holding the pole position.

They won six of their first ten matches, drawing three and losing only against Espanyol. In their last nine games, Ancelotti’s boys have won eight matches, while the game against Cadiz produced a 0-0 draw.

Real Madrid’s next opposition, Getafe are going through a really rough patch and are currently placed inside the relegation zone, having picked up only 15 points from 18 matches. The start is what went against them, as they lost all of their first seven matches.

Having said that, it also has to be noted that they are slowly but steadily finding their form back. Quique Sanchez Flores’ team has lost only two of their last nine matches and are coming into this match on the back of a four-game unbeaten streak.

GTF vs RMD Top Picks

Karim Benzema: Striker, Real Madrid

Karim Benzema has been in sensational goal-scoring form for the Los Blancos. The 34-year-old Frenchman has scored 20 goals in 23 appearances this season for Real Madrid, 15 of which have come in the La Liga.

Benzema has scored one goal each against five teams – Valencia, Rayo Vallecano, Sevilla, and Atletico Madrid. Besides that, he has also scored two braces against Deportivo Alaves and RCD Mallorca, while he has netted three goals against Celta Vigo and Athletic Club.

Marco Asensio: Midfielder, Real Madrid

Marco Asensio has rediscovered himself under the tutelage of Carlo Ancelotti. The Spanish winger has scored 6 goals in 19 appearances, five of which have come in the La Liga itself, while Asensio also has an assist to his name.

In the Spanish top flight, the winger scored a hat-trick against RCD Mallorca and got one goal each against Granada CF and Atletico Madrid. His other goal came against Italian giants Inter Milan in the Champions League.

Captain & Vice-Captain Selection

Karim Benzema is scoring in almost every match he is playing for Real Madrid. Hence, he will be an obvious pick for captaincy, while for vice-captaincy, we have selected Marco Asensio who will be high on confidence after scoring in the Madrid derby last month.
