Match: India vs South Africa, (IND vs SA, 1st T20I)
Date: September 28, 2022 – 7 PM IST
Venue: Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram
South Africa have arrived in India for a limited overs series ahead of the T20 World Cup down under. The tour will comprise three T20 internationals followed by three ODIs. India and South Africa will go head to head in the first T20I at Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, September 28th.
India brushed off their Asia Cup disappointments and defeated Australia at home by 2-1 in the recently concluded series. They were beaten in the opening game by four wickets but then edged out the visitors by six wickets in a rain-shortened game of eight overs a side.
Rohit Sharma’s men then chased down 188 in the third T20I on the back of Suryakumar Yadav’s 69 off 36 and Virat Kohli’s 63 off 48. India have played 32 T20Is since the previous WC and have won 24 of those.
South Africa have played 10 T20Is this year, winning six of those and losing three. They were exceptional on the tour of the UK in July-August, where they defeated England by 2-1, with huge victory margins and then smashed Ireland by 2-0.
The Proteas had toured India earlier this year, where they managed to draw the series by 2-2 with the series decider getting washed out. This series promises to be exciting with two high quality teams competing with almost full strength.
