India vs South Africa, 1st T20I:

India are set to host South Africa in a five-match T20I series as both the teams look to speed up their preparations for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia. The first T20I will take place at Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi on Thursday, June 9.

India have played three bilateral assignments since the previous edition of the T20 World Cup and are on a 12-match winning streak. They hammered WC finalists New Zealand by 3-0 in November and clean swept both West Indies and Sri Lanka in February this year. South Africa, on the other hand, haven’t played any T20 cricket since the WC but have won 11 of their last 12 T20 matches.

India will be playing under Rishabh Pant after skipper KL Rahul was ruled out. Three of their top players, including skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, are resting from the series. They will use this as an opportunity to test their backup players ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup. South Africa are at full strength and you can expect a tough battle between the two sides.

Pitch Report and Weather Forecast for IND vs SA, 1st T20I

The Delhi stadium is known to assist spinners significantly but the shorter boundaries do help the batters. As many as 83 T20 matches have been played here, with the average first innings score reading 165. The team batting first has crossed 190 on 16 occasions.

The weather in Delhi on Thursday is expected to be generally clear with a hazy atmosphere. There’s only a 3% chance of precipitation with the temperature around 30°C in the evening.

India – Expected XI and Team News

India are without their regular skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah. KL Rahul was ruled out with an injury at the last moment due to a groin injury while spinner Kuldeep Yadav was ruled out too after being hit on his hands while batting during a nets session. Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad should both play. Dinesh Karthik returns back to the Indian T20 setup and might just edge Venkatesh Iyer and Deepak Hooda. In the bowling unit, Avesh Khan is likely to play ahead of Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh.

Probable XI – Ishan Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (c/wk), Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, Axar Patel, Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Avesh Khan

South Africa – Expected XI and Team News

South Africa have a pretty settled playing XI except for a couple of spots. Promising hard-hitting youngster Tristan Stubbs was called up and could well make his debut. They have a strong bowling quartet of Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Tabraiz Shamsi and Keshav Maharaj. Marco Jansen and Dwaine Pretorius will be vying for the all-rounder’s slot.

Probable XI – Temba Bavuma (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Rassie van der Dussen, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Dwaine Pretorius/Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Tabraiz Shamsi

Rishabh Pant: Wicketkeeper Batter, India

Talking about overall T20 record, Pant has amassed over 4000 runs at 33 average and 147 strike rate, including two hundreds and 22 fifties. He is a good VC option, coming at 9 credits.

Kagiso Rabada: Bowler, South Africa

Kagiso Rabada can be expensive but he’s almost always a dream for fantasy players, picking plenty of wickets.
