IND vs SA, 2nd T20I – Fantasy Preview and Top Picks

Match: India vs South Africa, (IND vs SA, 2nd T20I)

Date: October 2, 2022 – 7 PM IST

Venue: Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati

India made light work of South Africa in the first T20I to go 1-0 in the three-match series. The Proteas will be looking to make a strong comeback when they take on the hosts in the second T20I at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday, October 2nd.

The series opener saw India defeat the visitors by eight wickets in Thiruvananthapuram. On a track with movement and variable bounce, South Africa’s batting unit suffered a huge collapse. Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar were outstanding with the new ball as they sent half the South African side back in the hut for just 9 runs in 2.3 overs.

Arshdeep removed Quinton de Kock, Rilee Rossouw and David Miller while Chahar bagged Temba Bavuma and Tristan Stubbs. Aiden Markram looked good in his 25-run knock before he was trapped by Harshal Patel. Wayne Parnell made 24 off 37 while Keshav Maharaj top scored with 41 off 35 to take the side past 100.

Chasing a small target of 107, India lost Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for just 17 in 6.1 overs. KL Rahul struggled to find any rhythm but he hung in. Suryakumar Yadav, on the other hand, batted like it’s a different pitch altogether and smashed 50* off 33 balls. Rahul remained unbeaten on 51 off 56 to complete the victory in 16.4 overs.

Pitch Report and Weather Forecast for IND vs SA, 2nd T20I

Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati has only hosted one T20 match where Australia had bowled out India for 110 and chased it down with eight wickets to spare. The pitch for this game is likely to provide good assistance for the seamers.

The weather in Guwahati on Sunday evening is likely to be partly cloudy and humid. There’s a 25% chance of rain in the evening with the temperature hovering around 30°C.

India – Expected XI and Team News

India have suffered a huge setback with Jasprit Bumrah getting ruled out of action for a while due to back stress injury.  They have added Mohammed Siraj to the side for this series. Ravichandran Ashwin was preferred over Yuzvendra Chahal in the first T20I, considering the number of left-hand batters in the opposition.

Probable XI – KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma (c), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Dinesh Karthik, Axar Patel, Harshal Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Arshdeep Singh, Deepak Chahar/Mohammed Siraj

South Africa – Expected XI and Team News

Temba Bavuma and Quinton de Kock form the opening pair for South Africa, with Rilee Rossouw to follow. They have a set middle order of Aiden Markram, David Miller and Tristan Stubbs. Wayne Parnell seems to be the frontrunner for the no. 7 spot. If they decide to get an additional pacer in, Marco Jansen could replace Tabraiz Shamsi.

Probable XI – Temba Bavuma (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Rilee Rossouw, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Wayne Parnell, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Tabraiz Shamsi/Marco Jansen
