Match: India vs Sri Lanka (IND vs SL)
Date: January 10, Tuesday, 1.30 PM IST
Venue: Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati
India and Sri Lanka will go head to head in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on January 10. The hosts won the T20I series 2-1 and will now be eyeing an ODI series win as well.
A number of their big names, including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah, who were not a part of the T20I series, are making a comeback for the 50-over format. The certainty of Bumrah being in the XI, however, is little because there are reports that the team management does not want to risk playing him as he is yet to fully recover from injury.
With Kohli back in the XI, it remains to be seen which position Suryakumar Yadav bats on. The batsman was India’s star performer in the T20Is.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, will rely on their skipper Dasun Shanaka to lead from the front. From the bowling department, the spin trio of Maheesh Theekshana, Dunith Wellalage and Wanindu Hasaranga will be crucial to the visitors. They would be hoping to put up a better performance this time, after drawing a home series against Afghanistan in November.
Ahead of the opening ODI match, let’s look at the head to head of both the teams, pitch report, weather update, top picks for your MPL fantasy team and more.
Weather update and pitch report for IND vs SL, 1st ODI

Five players to watch out for
Here we list five players you must pick in your MPL fantasy XI IND vs SL, 1st ODI
Ishan Kishan – wicketkeeper batsman, India
The left-handed batsman scored 37 runs off 29 deliveries in the first game and provided a good foundation to the team. Last year, he scored the fastest double-century in ODIs. Kishan is a good striker of the ball and an excellent pick in the T20I format fantasy cricket.
Wanindu Hasaranga – all-rounder, Sri Lanka
One of the top ranked all-rounders in the world, Wanindu Hasaranga dismissed Ishan Kishan in the first game and was the most economical bowler for Sri Lanka. With the bat, he made 21 runs off ten deliveries, which was laced with one four and two sixes.
Hardik Pandya – batsman, India
The captain of the Indian team made 29 runs off 27 balls and will be hoping to get a bigger knock in the next game. With the ball, Pandya conceded only 12 runs from three overs.
Suryakumar Yadav – batsman, India
Suryakumar Yadav, one of the most reliable batsmen in the current Indian team, managed just seven runs off ten balls in the first game. But he still remains the best captaincy pick for this game. Once he gets going, he can make the best of bowlers dance to his tune.
