Following some nostalgic action from eight teams in 20 group matches and two semifinals, we have the two finalists of the Road Safety World Series 2022. It will be the defending champions India Legends going head to head versus Sri Lanka Legends at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur on Saturday, October 1st.

Sachin Tendulkar-led will be eyeing for their second consecutive title. They finished third on the points table with two wins and three matches getting rained off. India then defeated Sri Lanka Legends in the first semi-final by five wickets to book their spot in the final.

Irfan Pathan was the hero for India Legends, smashing 37* off just 12 balls. Naman Ojha played a superb anchoring knock of unbeaten 90 off 62 as they chased down 172 with four balls to spare. Earlier, Abhimanyu Mithun was the pick of the bowlers, snaring 2 for 25 in four overs.

Sri Lanka Legends reached their second straight final in the Road Safety World Series and will be looking for revenge this time. They finished the group stage at the top with 18 points on the back of four victories and one washed out game. In the semi-final, they defeated West Indies Legends by 14 runs on Friday.

Ishan Jayaratne was the top scorer for Sri Lanka with 31 off 19 while Sanath Jayasuriya and Jeevan Mendis contributed with 26 and 25, respectively as they posted 172/9. Later, Nuwan Kulasekara bagged 2 for 26 whereas Sanath Jayasuriya also bagged two wickets. Some excellent death overs bowling helped Sri Lanka restrict West Indies short of the target.

Pitch Report and Weather Forecast for IND-L vs SL-L, Final

The pitches at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur have been good for batting in the ongoing tournament. Four matches have been played here so far, with the first innings scores reading 213, 160, 171 and 172.

Yusuf Pathan has been in pretty good form, playing across two leagues at the same time. He blasted 35* off 15 balls and 27 off 11 in two innings in the Road Safety World Series while also picking two wickets. Over in the Legends League, he has scored 164 runs in five games and has claimed five wickets.

Tillakaratne Dilshan: All-rounder, Sri Lanka Legends

Tillakaratne Dilshan smashed 107 off 56 in the first game of the Road Safety World Series. He later scored 75* in one of the Legends League Cricket matches and 51 versus Bangladesh in this league. Dilshan has picked seven wickets with the ball in the last five games across two leagues.

Sachin Tendulkar: Batter, India Legends

Sachin Tendulkar slammed 40 off just 20 balls versus England and has looked in good touch in most games. Across the two seasons of the Road Safety World Series, Sachin has scored 318 runs from 11 innings at an average of 32 while striking at 137. In his time, Tendulkar had scored 2797 T20 runs at an average of 33.

Sanath Jayasuriya: All-rounder, Sri Lanka Legends

Sanath Jayasuriya has been superb for Sri Lanka Legends with the ball, picking seven scalps in four innings. He has batted twice in the season, smashing 37 off 25 and 26 off 19. Jayasuriya, in his time, had scored over 2300 runs at 22 average while picking 77 wickets.

Abhimanyu Mithun: Bowler, India Legends

Abhimanyu Mithun has bowled in two games this Road Safety World Series season, picking 2 for 31 and 2 for 25. The right arm pacer played 74 T20 matches in his career and picked 69 wickets at an economy of 8.41 with two five-wicket hauls.
