David Miller – The Horse to Bet on!

IPL Fantasy Stats David Miller

David Andrew Miller is a South African left-handed middle-order batsman who occasionally also keeps the wickets. Known for his power-hitting, Miller made his First-Class debut at the age of 17 for the Dolphins in the 2007-08 season, scoring a half-century in the first innings. His contributions in his ODI debut in 2010 turned out to be valuable for his team; however, Miller is yet to play Test cricket for South Africa.

Like most cricketers, David Miller also shares a sporting childhood that inspired him to become a cricketer. The hard-hitting left-hander comes from a sporting background, with his father having played club-level cricket. Miller was also inspired to become a cricketer by the Australian batsman Matthew Hayden. He has played cricket all around the world for teams such as Kings XI Punjab, Dolphins, Chittagong Kings, South Africa A, Yorkshire, KwaZulu-Natal, and Durham. In 2018, he also announced that he wouldn’t be playing first-class cricket anymore.

Miller was bought by Kings XI Punjab in the 2011 IPL season but didn’t get to play any game. However, the 2013 IPL season started with a bang for Miller, where he scored the third-fastest century with 101 not out off 38 balls and made a remarkable contribution to the score. Over the seasons, Miller was dropped from captaincy, and by 2018 he wasn’t retained by KXIP. He now plays for Rajasthan Royals; however, he only featured in one game in the IPL 2020 season.

Miller played the best knock of his career in 2016 against Australia at Durban, where he pulled off a stunning win with a century. The self-styled finisher is strong off the front and back foot but is also a gun fielder. However, the right-arm off-spinner’s bowling is not as renowned as his batting.

This versatile batsman possesses the ability to perform in challenging conditions and play several impressive shots. He may look shy, but the talented southpaw is a mainstay for South Africa in the limited-overs setup. The limited-overs specialist is yet to make it to the Test team and showcase his skills.
