Introduction
Team Lucknow will look to go one step further in the Indian T20 League after reaching the playoffs in the 2022 and 2023 edition. The Lucknow-based franchise was added to the league in a bid to expand the no. 1 league in the world to a 10-team tournament.
Team Lucknow had brought in a star-studded support staff, handing the head coach reins to Andy Flower. Flower, however, has moved to team Bangalore this season and his place has been taken up by Justin Langer. Morne Morkel is their bowling coach, Pravin Tambe is the spin-bowling consultant while Jonty Rhodes is the fielding coach.

The RPSG group, owned by Sanjeev Goenka, earned the rights for Lucknow Super Giants. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had organised an e-auction to take bids for the two new franchises – Ahmedabad and Lucknow. The Lucknow-based franchise became the most expensive franchise in the IPL history as the RPSG group bagged the rights for INR 7090 Cr. The franchise held an online competition, inviting team names from fans and eventually chose Lucknow Super Giants.
