Mumbai vs Rajasthan: An over-achieving team up against perennial under-performers

IPL Fantasy Stats Mumbai vs Rajasthan

Introduction:

Mumbai and Rajasthan are on two opposite sides of the spectrum as far as performances in the Indian T20 domestic league are concerned. While Team Mumbai have won the league on five occasions, Rajasthan is yet to get their hands on the trophy ever since they won the maiden edition of the tournament back in 2008. However, what makes the battle between the two teams interesting is that Rajasthan has been a constant threat to Mumbai and have an envious record against them of late.

In the last three seasons of the tournament, Rajasthan has faced Mumbai six times and won five games against them – including winning both encounters in 2018 and 2019. No other team has such a superior record against Mumbai in the last few years, and it is this surprise element that makes the games between the two an enthralling affair.

Overall, Rajasthan and Mumbai have met each other on 23 occasions in the Indian T20 domestic league, with both sides winning 11 games each. Considering the recent record that the Pink Army have against Mumbai, we can expect yet another exciting contest when the two teams face each other this season.

In the 2020 edition, Mumbai finally registered a win against Rajasthan for the first time in five games when they defeated them in the first encounter. After piling 193 for 4 on the board, Mumbai dismissed Rajasthan for only 136, but the latter got their revenge as they chased down 196 in the reverse fixture to further stamp their authority on Team Mumbai.
