IPL 2020- 5 Players from Mumbai Indians

After a dramatic last-ball victory in the finals of IPL 2019, Mumbai Indians will now look to keep the momentum going and muster as many wins as possible in the conditions of UAE.

Batting, Bowling, and Fielding – the Rohit Sharma-led side has got all their areas covered, and with the new additions into the squad in the IPL 2020 auction, they have another successful shot for the much-coveted trophy, which if happens, would be their 5th titular win in IPL.

Here are the five key players from Mumbai Indians to watch out for in IPL 2020 –

Rahul Chahar

Last year, there were doubts raised whether the 21-year-old would be able to deliver in IPL, perhaps one of the biggest stages in T20 cricket, but the leggie emerged successful in shutting down his critics.

Rahul played 13 T20s and scalped as many wickets at a mind-boggling economy of 6.54, and averaged just 21.69.  His economical best performances came in the knockouts, when he picked 2/14 versus CSK in the Qualifier-1, and backed himself to take 1/14 in the Finals, both of which Mumbai Indians won.

Jasprit Bumrah

Bumrah’s exploits in nerve-wracking moments have been one of the prime reasons behind Mumbai Indians’ conquests in 2017 and 2019.

In IPL 2017, he picked 20 wickets while averaging 22.05. The toe-crusher grabbed 19 wickets in IPL 2019, averaging 21.53, and bowled at an economy of  6.63.

In death overs, there isn’t a bowler more reliable than Jasprit Bumrah, who with his pacey yorkers will get the job done without breaking a sweat.

Rohit Sharma

In terms of trophies, Rohit Sharma is the most successful skipper in the history of IPL, leading the side to title wins in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019.

As a batsman, Hitman is 3rd on the list of leading run-getters in IPL, having scored 4898 runs at 130.82, in the process smashing a hundred and 36 fifties.

Though he has been the best pick at No 4 for the Mumbai Indians, it was time he batted up the order, something he decided to in IPL 2019 and got over 400 runs under his belt.

It has been a few months since cricket fanatics witnessed his elegant strokeplays, making his IPL performance all the more special.

Chris Lynn

Lynn was a steal pick by the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2020 auction. Referred as the King of BBL, he could easily be among the most destructive batters in the current scenario of T20 cricket.

In IPL, Lynn has been a consistent performer in the last three editions, smashing close to 300 runs in 2017, which followed by 491 runs in 2018 and finally 405 runs in 2019.

An opening batsman who likes to dominate from the very delivery, Lynn would surely be a mayhem for the rivals in the powerplay, and if he gets his rhythm, then he might end single-handedly win the matches for the 4-time champions.

Suryakumar Yadav

The Mumbaikar’s performance in the limited overs has been on the rise in the last couple of years. He has been one of the central figures in Mumbai Indians, scoring 512 runs in IPL 2018, and backing up with a 424-run season in IPL 2019.

Not to mention, he continued his scoring ability in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019-20, as he ended up being the 3rd highest run-getter with close to 400 runs, averaging 56.00, with 4 fifties.

It’s visible that Suryakumar is enjoying a purple patch in his career, and his form could be a major contributor to Mumbai Indians’ success in IPL 2020.
