We are now heading towards the second last game of Indian T20 League 2021 which will be played between Team Kolkata and Team Delhi. Eoin Morgan’s team is coming into Qualifier 2 after defeating Team Bangalore in the eliminator. Batting first, Bangalore set Kolkata a sub-par target of 139 runs after openers Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal shared a 49-run partnership for the first wicket. Sunil Narine was Kolkata’s best bowler with four wickets.

Chasing 139, Shubman Gill and Venkatesh Iyer shared a first-wicket partnership of 41 runs, before significant contributions from Nitish Raina, Narine and Dinesh Karthik left only seven runs to be scored in the final over with Morgan and Shakib Al Hasan in the middle.

Delhi, on the other hand, come into this game after losing the Qualifier 1 to finalists Chennai. Batting first, Delhi posted 172 on the board with the help of half-centuries from Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant. Chasing 173, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Robin Uthappa scored half centuries before MS Dhoni smashed three fours in three balls in the final over to take his side over the line.

The winner of qualifier 2 will meet Chennai in the final on October 15.

Sharjah Cricket Ground is small in size, which makes it easier to hit boundaries and score totals in excess of 150. In the second leg, however, we have not seen high scoring games at this venue. The eliminator played here a fortnight ago was also a low-scoring contest. The spinners thrive on this wicket, while the pacers go for a lot of runs.

Shikhar Dhawan – Batter, Team Delhi

Shikhar Dhawan is currently the third-highest run-scorer in the Indian T20 League 2021 with 551 runs at an average of almost 40 and strike rate of 127.54. Along with form, Dhawan will also bring with him lots of experience of playing in knockout games. In all, Dhawan has played 191 Indian T20 League games, having an average and strike rate of 34.83 and 126.94.
