GUJ vs MUM: Five players to watch out for

Here we list five players to watch out for in the game

Piyush Chawla – all-rounder, Mumbai

The 34-year-old spinner has taken the most wickets for Mumbai this season – nine wickets in six games at an average of 17.55, an economy of 6.86, and a strike rate of 15.3. Chawla has overall played 165 matches in the tournament’s history, picking up 168 wickets. He needs only two more wickets to get to 170.

Hardik Pandya – all-rounder, Gujarat

Hardik Pandya’s form in the initial few games of the season was one of the bigger concerns for Gujarat, but the all-rounder found form in the previous game against Lucknow in which he scored a half century. The Gujarat skipper has overall played 113 matches in the Indian T20 League, from which he has 2091 runs at an average of almost 30 and a strike rate of over 145. With the ball, he has taken 52 wickets at an economy of 8.61.

Tilak Varma – batsman, Mumbai

The young batsman is the leading run scorer for Mumbai this season with 217 runs in six games at a strike rate of 156.11. He has made up for the inconsistency of other batsmen like Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan.

Rashid Khan – all-rounder, Gujarat

Like every season, Rashid Khan has proved this year too why he is one of the best in the business. He is the leading wicket-taker for Gujarat this season so far with 12 wickets in six games at an average of 16.58, an economy of 8.29, and a strike rate of 12. Rashid took a hattrick against Kolkata earlier this season. He is a good option for your MPL team’s vice captaincy.

Shubman Gill – batsman, Gujarat

Shubman Gill, who has been in the form of his life over the last few months, is the leading run-scorer for Gujarat with 228 runs in six games at an average of 38 and a strike rate of 138.18. He was the team’s leading run scorer last year as well when he scored 483 runs in 16 matches. Gill has been Gujarat’s most consistent batsman this season and is a must have in your MPL team.
