Afghanistan managed to stay alive in the five-match series against Ireland with a 22-run victory in the third T20I on Friday. They will look to level the series when they meet the hosts in the fourth match at Belfast on Monday, August 15th.
Batting first, Afghanistan posted a strong total of 189/6 on the back key contributions from Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran and Najibullah Zadran. Gurbaz top scored with 53 off 35, with Hazratullah Zazai struggling to score quickly in their 90-run opening stand. Then Ibrahim scored 36 off 22 and Najibullah blasted 42 in just 18 balls.
Defending the target, the visitors had reduced Ireland to 85/7 before George Dockrell (58* off 37) and debutant Fionn Hand (36 off 18) dragged the game to the end. Naveen-ul-Haq snared 3 for 38 while Fazalhaq Farooqi and Mujeeb Ur Rahman claimed two wickets each as Afghanistan held on to a victory.
Earlier in the series, Ireland chased down 169 in the first game by seven wickets and with one ball remaining. In the second game, Ireland restricted Afghanistan to 122/8 and chased it down with five wickets and an over to spare.

Lorcan Tucker: Wicketkeeper Batter, Ireland
Lorcan Tucker has shown great form since moving up to no. 3. He has scored 263 runs in seven T20 innings at no. 3, at averaging 38 while striking at 166. He has scored three fifties in this phase, including 50 off 32 in the first game of the ongoing series. Earlier, he had hammered 78 off 38 against South Africa.
Andy Balbirnie: Batter, Ireland
