Ireland Women vs Australia Women:

The 4th match of the women’s Tri-Series will see Ireland take on the world champions Australia. The two teams will meet at the same venue of Bready Cricket Club in Northern Ireland on Thursday, July 21.

Australia have played two matches in the series, winning one and the other ending in a no result. They were in a dominant position in the first game, having reduced Pakistan Women to 56/6 in eight overs but the rain did not allow any further play.

In the second game, Australia hammered Ireland by nine wickets. Alana King picked her second T20I three-for in a row (3/9) while Darcie Brown claimed 2 for 9 in her four overs to restrict Ireland to only 99/8 in 20 overs. Beth Mooney smashed an unbeaten 45 off 33 while Meg Lanning scored 39* off 33 as they chased down the target in 12.5 overs.

Ireland have lost both the games in the series. After getting smashed by Australia, they came close to take a win off Pakistan but could not finish the job. In a rain-curtailed 14-over match, Ireland restricted Pakistan to 92/5 with Laura Delany and Jane Maguire picking two wickets each.

Ireland started the chase brilliantly, smashing 25 in the first two overs and reaching the halfway mark at 54 for no loss. But they couldn’t keep up with the run-rate. Gaby Lewis scored 47 off 41 without much support from other end as they fell 13 runs short of the target.
