Match: Kings XI Punjab vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (KXIP vs SRH)
Date:October 24, 2020
Venue: Dubai Cricket Stadium – Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Kings XI Punjab have managed to turn around their IPL 2020 fortunes, and now have a genuine chance of finishing in the top four. They had won just one of their first seven games but have bounced back strongly with three successive victories to be on 8 points. KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal are in great form, while the bowling is dependent on Mohammad Shami, who has been lethal at the death.
SRH too will enter the game on the back of a win against Rajasthan Royals. They too have 8 points on the board, and will want to break free from the mid-table jostle and move to 10 points, and potentially to the number four position. Jason Holder, playing his first IPL 2020 game, had picked up 3 for 33 against RR, while Manish Pandey and Vijay Shankar piled on the first ever 100-plus run stand by an Indian for SRH to chase the total down against the Royals.
The weather in Dubai will hover around the 38-degree mark during the day, but the evening will see a clear evening.
Thedew is making its presence felt in the IPL, which means that the team batting second has a huge advantage. The track has help for the slower bowlers, but the chief wreckers have been the fast bowlers.
The teams that will win the toss might opt to chase as there will be considerable dew in the second half of the innings. SRH won their first-ever game while chasing in IPL 2020 when they chased down a target against Rajasthan Royals in the last game, and it might prompt them to chase yet again.
KXIP Expected XI and Team News
The KXIP unit wears a formidable look with the presence of Chris Gayle in the XI. Though Glenn Maxwell is yet to fire, we expect Punjab to go in unchanged.
KL Rahul: The Punjab skipper has been phenomenal with the bat and is the leading run scorer of IPL 2020 with 540 runs, including one ton and five fifties. He had a quiet game in the last match and will want to fire.
Nicholas Pooran: The West Indian will enter the game on the back of a 53 that helped Punjab over the line against a strong Delhi Capitals unit. He had scored 77 when the two teams had last met.
KL Rahul (c, wk), Mayank Argawal, Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, Glenn Maxwell, Deepak Hooda, James Neesham, Mohammed Shami, Ravi Bishnoi, Murugan Ashwin, Arshdeep Singh
SRH Expected XI and Team News
Sunrisers Hyderabad were without the services of Kane Williamson in the last match, who was out injured. Even if fit, the SRH unit might not make any changes to their XI, with Jason Holder expected to continue.
Jonny Bairstow: The Englishman had scored 97 when the two teams had last met in IPL 2020. He has blown hot and cold this year, but still has 326 runs to his name.
David Warner: The Aussie has not yet hit his straps this season, but is the leading run scorer for SRH with 335 runs in IPL 2020. He was out early in the last game and will want to give his side a solid start.

MPL Fantasy Prediction for KXIP vs SRH:
WK: KL Rahul is the Orange Cap holder, and has been in excellent form at the top of the order. Though he costs 11 credits, he is worth a pick in the MPL fantasy team. Nicholas Pooran is a dangerous match-winner on his day, and comes into the game in good form.
Batsmen: Mayank Agarwal, along with KL Rahul, has led the charge for Punjab at the top of the order, while Chris Gayle is unstoppable if he gets going. The duo bat in the top three, and will have a huge role to play. David Warner has not yet played a defining captain’s knock, and will be eager to come good in an important clash, while Manish Pandey had scored a fine 50 in the last game to steer his team over the line.
All-rounders: Jason Holder made his IPL 2020 debut in the last game, and picked up 3 for 33. He can also chip in with the bat, when needed.
Bowlers: Mohammad Shami had bowled an excellent Super Over against Mumbai Indians, wherein he defended 6 runs. He has a great yorker for the death overs, which makes him a threat. Ravi Bishnoi and Arshdeep Singh have been impressive, while T Natarajan has been dangerous with his yorkers.
Captain and VC: KL Rahul and David Warner
Match Prediction for KXIP vs SRH:
Both teams have managed to resurrect their campaign after an iffy start. On paper, Punjab are the stronger side, with a well-balanced bowling attack to go with a dangerous batting unit. However, we back Aussie skipper Dvaid Warner to play a match-winning innings and take his team to 10 points in this match.
Sunrisers Hyderabad are the favourites to win.
