Leeds United will have their hands full when they host Chelsea at Elland Road in the Premier League.
Leeds’ drastic fall this season has made life difficult for them as the Whites are back into the relegation fight once again. Their horrific form hasn’t been of much help in their survival fight and they must beat Chelsea to have any kind of hopes.
Their poor form also saw the departure of Marcelo Bielsa who kind of lifted the spirit at the club following their long awaited promotion to the top flight in 2020.
Their high pressing style full of intensity became the talk of the town as they finished ninth last season. But they have failed to replicate their performance this term and their struggle has been quite apparently visible.
Despite their recent shortcomings Jesse Marsch has managed to plug the gap in the Whites backline as they have been conceding fewer goals than what they used to leak before.
But their problem lies elsewhere as their attack hasn’t been up to the mark this term. Patrick Bamford’s persistent injury problems mounted big problems for them as goals have dried for the relegation contenders.
The attacking players have struggled to find a space in the opponent’s attacking third and Marsch needs to sort out the issue as soon as possible.
For Chelsea, their form has nosedived since the start of April as the Blues have conceded some unlikely defeats at the hands of Brentford and Everton. They were once flirting with the Premier League title race but currently they are just one point clear of Arsenal who will contest Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby.
Tedd Boehly has agreed to buy the club from Roman Abramovich and before the start of the next season, the takeover could be completed. The new owner watched from the stands at Molineux as Chelsea surrendered their two goals lead as Wolves came from behind to snatch a point against the Blues.
With the FA Cup final hovering on the horizon, Thomas Tuchel might want to freshen up his squad in this outing.
