About
Paris Saint-Germain have been the most successful French team. They have dominated the Ligue 1 in the last few years and have also been managed to prove their presence in the European circuit.
The club witnessed its fortunes change when Canal+ invested to take over the club back in 1991. The arrival of a number of world class players with the likes of George Weah saw the French side winning a plethora of trophies under the ownership.
The new era started when Qatar Sports investments bought a majority 70% stake of the club in 2011 to initiate a new revolution in French football. Later they completed the takeover in 2012 when they decided to take up the remaining shares to become the only owner of the club.
The owners have been investing significantly to change the club’s stature as they have turned PSG into a money spinner that can sustain itself on its own.
The expensive transfer of Neymar from Barcelona broke all the records as the French giants paid a whopping 222 million Euros to acquire the service of the Brazilian forward.

Road Ahead for PSG
Paris Saint-Germain are currently one of the richest clubs in the world. The French giants managed to lure Lionel Messi to the French capital alongside Sergio Ramos who was a pillar of defence for Real Madrid for many years.
With the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar already in the ranks, PSG could ease their way to the Ligue 1 title. They are yet to establish their authority in the Champions League and it will likely take a brief period of time before they lift their first Champions League title.
The French giants have managed to build a brand surrounding their club and the arrival of Messi has boosted the merchandise sales which could see the revenue booming up. The club also paired up with Nike owned brand Air Jordan to make some of their kits. The deal could see PSG raking in millions of money as Messi’s shirts sales alone helped Michael Jordan to get more than seven million dollars in royalties. The Argentine star is expected to pocket around 75 million dollars including his salary, bonuses and other incentives during his two year stay at the club and PSG are likely to recoup much of the investments through their merchandise selling.
