Manchester Originals vs Welsh Fire, 16th Match:

The 16th match of the men’s Hundred will have Manchester Originals taking on Welsh Fire. The two teams, who are yet to win a game this season, will clash at the Old Trafford on Tuesday, August 16th.

Jos Buttler’s reign as captain has continued to be frustrating as Manchester Originals succumbed to the third loss of the season on Saturday. Batting first, they posted a very strong total of 189/3 on the board. Phil Salt top scored with 70 off 46 balls while Buttler smashed 25-ball 41 at the top.

Originals had no answers to the onslaught of Trent Rockets opening duo Alex Hales and Dawid Malan. Hales scored 38 off 20 while Tom Kohler-Cadmore made 30 off 17. But it was Malan who punished Manchester with an incredible 98* in just 44 balls.

Welsh Fire also lost their third game on the trot, losing by just 4 runs against Birmingham Phoenix. Their bowling attack did an excellent job to restrict the opponents to just 130/7. David Payne was brilliant with the ball, picking 2 for 12 while George Scrimshaw also grabbed two scalps.

Tom Banton scored 44 off 32 balls to take the team closer to the target. Welsh needed to get 13 off the last 10 deliveries with David Miller (35*) and captain Josh Cobb at the crease but they could only score two runs off Kane Richardson in the penultimate set and eventually fell short by 4 runs.
