Match: Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals (MI vs DC)
Date:October 11, 2020
Venue: Sheikh Zayed Stadium – Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Two of the best teams of IPL 2020 will clash when they meet each other in the second game on Sunday. Mumbai Indians have won four games of the six thus far and will be high on confidence as they had defeated Rajasthan Royals at this very ground earlier. Every player is in excellent form, with Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Quinton de Kock, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard all exploding thus far. Mumbai also have a great bowling attack, with Trent Boult, James Pattinson and Jasprit Bumrah leading the charge with the new ball.
Delhi Capitals are currently on top of the table with five wins from six games. However, their middle order has been inconsistent, which could prove to be a big issue against a strong Mumbai side. Their bowling, though, is one of the strongest in the competition with Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje impressing upfront and Ravi Ashwin along with Axar Patel stalling the run flow in the middle overs.
A hot day with temperatures near 40 degrees awaits. A sunny, dry and a humid day awaits.
The ground in Abu Dhabi is not a high scoring one and a score of around 170 will be competitive. The team that bats second will find it tough to score runs as the pitch gets slower in the second half.
The toss will be important as the wicket here will get slower in the second half. Chasing will not be the easiest, and the team that wins the toss will be looking to bat first.
MI Expected XI and Team News
MI have won their last three games, and they have settled well as a unit. Rohit Sharma has shied away from making many changes and there is no reason for him to tinker with a winning combination.
Rohit Sharma: The Mumbai skipper has been in excellent form and has scored 211 runs in 6 games. He has been leading his team from the front and will be crucial against a strong bowling attack.
Jasprit Bumrah: The Indian had an average start to the IPL, but has bounced back with 11 wickets in six matches. He is the second highest wicket-taker in the edition and has been economical as well.
Rohit Sharma (C), Quinton de Kock (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Rahul Chahar, James Pattinson, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah
DC Expected XI and Team News
Like Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals too come into the game after consecutive wins, which gives them no reason to change their line-up. Shreyas Iyer is expected to field the same XI.
Shreyas Iyer: The Delhi Capitals skipper is a class player who can turn any match on its head within a few overs. He had smashed a fine unbeaten 88 off just 38 deliveries against Kolkata Knight Riders and can be backed to come good against Mumbai Indians.
Kagiso Rabada: The South African currently holds the Purple Cap for picking up 15 wickets in just 6 games. He averages just 12.33 with the ball this season, and will be a serious threat both with the new ball and at the death.
Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Shimron Hetmyer, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Marcus Stoinis, Axar Patel, Ravi Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Harshal Patel
Head to head record of SRH vs RR:
There is nothing separating the two teams in the IPL when they play against each other. Delhi and Mumbai have played 24 games against each other, with each side winning 12 matches.
MPL Fantasy Prediction for MI vs DC:
WK: Quinton de Kock and Rishabh Pant are both great choices for the MPL fantasy team, but the Mumbai wicket-keeper is in better form. Pant has just hit five sixes this IPL, and is yet to find his groove.
Batsmen: Rohit Sharma has been leading the team from the front and deserves a look in, while his DC counterpart Shreyas Iyer too has found his groove. Both can run away with the game if they get going. Prithvi Shaw has been giving his team excellent starts in IPL 2020. He has two sixties and one forty thus far in the edition, and has batted with responsibility.
All-rounders: Both teams have quality all-rounders. Kieron Pollard and Marcus Stoinis have been finishing off games for their respective teams, and have been among the wickets as well. Axar Patel is yet to concede a six in this IPL, and can be handy with the bat in hand as well.
Bowlers: Both Mumbai and Delhi have been led by the excellent form of their pacers. Kagiso Rabada has been threatening rivals with his yorkers and his pace, while the duo of Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah have been equally threatening. They have 21 wickets between them, and have given away runs at less than 8 an over. Rahul Chahar has been economical and has been the X-factor for Mumbai this season.
Captain and VC: Kieron Pollard and Marcus Stoinis
Match Prediction for MI vs DC:
Both teams are in excellent form, and it is going to be a cracker of a match. However, Mumbai have the slight advantage ahead of the clash. Every batsman in the team has fired thus far, while DC have been let down by Pant and Shikhar Dhawan. However, they are world class players and can be backed to come good sooner than later.
Mumbai Indians are the favourites to win.
