Match: Tamil Nadu vs Madhya Pradesh (MP vs TN, Vijay Hazare 2020-21)
Date: February 24, Wednesday.
Venue: Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore.
Tournament favorites Tamil Nadu would be looking to get back on their winning ways post the 7-wicket at the hands of Andhra in the last outing. Being forced to bat first, the Dinesh Karthik-captained side were bowled out for 176 runs in 41.3 overs, with Baba Aparajith (40) top-scoring with the willow, followed by No 6 batter Sony Yadav (37). In the second innings, R Silambarasan (2/31) and R Sai Kishore (1.39) were the only threats from Tamil Nadu’s bowling attack as Andhra opted for an aggressive approach to chase the total in 29.1 overs.
Tamil Nadu are presently occupying the 4th spot with a win (against Punjab) and a loss each and an NRR of -1.227. With only three matches remaining for their league fixture to conclude, it’s time Tamil Nadu muster wins in each of the encounters.
Meanwhile, the situation has worsened for Madhya Prades as they have lost two matches in a row – first against Jharkhand by 324 runs, and recently against Vidarbha by 4 wickets.
With an NRR of -3.349, Madhya Pradesh are already occupying the bottom spot in Group B rankings and chances are glim that they might compete in the knockouts. Nonetheless, they should hope to alter their strategies considering they have experienced rivals to counter in the next contest.
Weather Forecast & Pitch Report
It will be hazy weather at Holkar stadium for the entire course of the match. The temperature would glide between 21 to 32 degrees Celsius with lesser humidity levels as the game progresses. The wicket has favored the batsmen in the last two outings played at this venue this season, with a score of 422 being recorded by Jharkhand against Madhya Pradesh.
Madhya Pradesh’s Team News & Probable XI
The side improved on their batting front in the previous game as they managed to score over 240 runs, contrary to the first match where they were all-out for 98. Even they rendered a tough fight with the ball as they took the game deeper, thereby making it a bit difficult for rival Vidarbha in their run-chase, they eventually won. It doesn’t seem that they will force any changes.
Parth Sahani: He was the highest run-getter for their side against Vidharbha – 68* off 58 deliveries comprising 6 fours and 3 sixes, at a strike rate of 117.24.
Parth is an aggressive batter who has maintained a scoring rate of 120-plus in 40 List-A appearances and can contribute decent fantasy points during his stay at the crease. Add to that, the southpaw was in a decent form in the Syed Mushtaq T20s as well, and now with the knockouts at stake, he could be expected to compile some numbers in the upcoming game.
Aditya Shrivastava: The 27-year-old took his time to settle but was a big positive for Madhya Pradesh as he added 52 runs to their total with 3 fours and a six. He bats at No 5 and could stage another partnership with Parth at No 6, thus maintaining the right-hand left-hand combination.
Abhishek Bhandari (wk), Shubam Sharma, Venkatesh Iyer, Aditya Shrivastava, Rajat Patidar, Parth Sahani (c), Saransh Jain, Puneet Datey, Gaurav Yadav, Kumar Kartikeya, Ishwar Pandey.
Tamil Nadu’s Team News & Probable XI
The previous match was one off day for Tamil Nadu where the batters couldn’t click. Unlikely that Dinesh Karthik & Co. will look for any changes in their playing XI.

With runs incoming since the commencement of this year’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, one could say that Jagadeesan is going through a purple patch in his career, and would look to capitalize on the same as the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy unfolds.
Baba Aparajith: His all-round abilities proved to an X factor for Tamil Nadu in the concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and now looking to be a major contributor to their success in the domestic one-dayers. Batting at No 4, Aparajith struck 88 agains
t Punjab and backed up that inning with 40 against Vidarbha. Not to mention, his off-breaks garnered him a wicket in the few overs that he bowled in the first outing.
N Jagadeesan, Hari Nishanth, Dinesh Karthik (c & wk), Baba Aparajith, Shahrukh Khan, Baba Indrajith, Sonu Yadav, Murugan Ashwin, R Silambarasan, M Mohammed, R S Kishore.

Match Prediction for MP vs TN
Although both Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh have lost a game each at this venue in the ongoing domestic one-dayers, one could still back the former on basis of their team composition.
