Venue: VRA Cricket Ground, Amstelveen
After smashing the highest-ever ODI total in the opening game, England will now look to carry the same momentum into the second game on Sunday at the VRA Cricket Ground in Amstelveen. Several records were created in the first ODI in which England scored 498 for 4 in 50 overs, which is now the highest total in men’s ODI history. Philip Salt, Dawid Malan, and Jos Buttler hit hundreds in what was a complete run fest in Amstelveen.
Salt and Malan added 222 runs for the second wicket, which is now England’s third-highest stand for the second wicket in ODIs. Malan and Buttler added 184 runs for the 3rd wicket, which iss England’s eighth stand of 180-plus for the third wicket.
Buttler’s knock was particularly impressive as he scored an unbeaten 162 off only 70 balls at a strike rate of over 230. This is the 10th ODI hundred Buttler and the second-fastest century for England in the format.
Later in the game, Moeen Ali picked up three wickets to help his side bowl out the hosts for 266 and win the game by a big margin of 232 runs.

Five players to watch out for
Here we list five players you must pick in your MPL fantasy XI for NED vs ENG, 2nd ODI
Scott Edwards – Batsman, Netherlands
Scott Edwards put up a good fight in Netherland’s long chase of England’s 498. Batting in the middle order, Edwards scored an unbeaten 72 on 56 deliveries. He also played a few good shots in the series against West Indies earlier this month, which includes a half-century in three games. The 25-year-old has played 20 ODIs for Netherlands since making his debut in August 2018, and has a healthy average of 34.37.
Max O’Dowd – Batsman, Netherlands
Max O’Dowd scored a half-century in the opening ODI and was the second-highest run-scorer for his team after Scott Edwards. Earlier against the West Indies, O’Dowd scored two centuries in three matches and was the highest run-scorer for Netherlands in the series. Given how the opening batsman has performed over the last few weeks, he is a good pick for your fantasy team. In all, the 28-year-old has played 15 ODIs from which he has 593 runs at an excellent average of 45.61.
Jos Buttler – Wicketkeeper batsman, England
Given the kind of form Jos Buttler is in, he is a good choice for your MPL team’s captaincy. After finishing the IPL 2022 as the highest run-scorer, Buttler continued with his fine form in the first ODI against Netherland, hitting a record-breaking unbeaten 162 off merely 70 balls at a strike rate of 231.42. England hit a total of 26 sixes in their innings, of which 14 were hit by Buttler alone. Among the best white-ball players in the world, Buttler has an average of 40.34 in 149 ODIs. He will be looking to make his 150th ODI appearance special with yet another good knock.
David Malan – Batsman, England
Along with Buttler and Salt, the third England batsman to have scored a century in the first ODI is David Malan. Malan also played quite a few good knocks for Yorkshire over the last few weeks. Going by his recent form, he is a safe pick for your MPL team.
Moeen Ali – all-rounder, England
Moeen Ali did not get a chance to bat in the first ODI but did the damage with the ball by picking three wickets. The experienced all-rounder brings with him the experience of playing 113 ODIs from which he averages 25.02. With the ball, he has taken 90 wickets in the format.
