Pakistan are in the Netherlands to play three one-day internationals which are a part of the World Cup Super League. The first game was won by the visitors and the two teams will now square off in the second game on August 18 at Hazelaarweg, Rotterdam.

In the first ODI, Pakistan scored 314 for 6 in their 50 overs. Fakhar Zaman scored a sensational century, while skipper Babar Azam scored a half-century. Down the order, Shadab Khan also played a fine knock of 48 runs. Later, three wickets each from Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah helped the visitors defend the target. Vikramjit Singh, Tom Cooper and Scott Edwards scored a half-century each, but in the end, the hosts fell short of the target by 16 runs.

Pakistan are unbeaten in their last six ODI matches, while Netherlands last won an ODI more than a year ago and will be looking to end their losing streak. The bilateral series will also serve as a good preparatory series for Pakistan ahead of the Asia Cup, which begins in a few days’ time.

Tom Cooper – batsman, Netherlands

Tom Cooper, the third highest run-scorer for Netherlands in ODIs behind Ryan ten Doeschate, scored a half century in the first ODI. His knock of 65 helped Netherlands lose by a lesser margin. In 27 ODIs, he has 1114 runs at an excellent average of 46.41. He is also a capable off break bowler, having 14 ODI wickets under his name.

Babar Azam – batsman, Pakistan

Babar Azam has been in incredible form across formats over the last few months and we saw the same in the first ODI, where he scored a knock of 74 runs. Before this series, Azam scored a century and two fifties against Sri Lanka in two Tests, a century and fifty in a three-match ODI series against the West Indies and two centuries in the three-match ODI series against Australia. The Pakistan skipper has a stellar average of almost 60 in 90 ODIs.

Haris Rauf – bowler, Pakistan

The right-arm pacer picked up three wickets in the first ODI and was instrumental in Pakistan defending their total. Although Rauf has played just 14 ODIs so far, he has already established himself as one of Pakistan’s key bowlers with a wickets tally of 26.

Scott Edwards – batsman, Netherlands

Netherlands skipper Scott Edwards was his side’s top run scorer in the first ODI and remained unbeaten till the end. He scored an unbeaten 71 off 60 balls. Most recently, he also scored a half century each in all three ODI matches against England. He has played 23 ODI matches and scored 763 runs at an average of 42.38.

Fakhar Zaman – batsman, Pakistan

Opening batsman Fakhar Zaman scored a century in the first ODI, the 7th century of his ODI career, and is expected to be one of the key players in the second game. In all, the experienced campaigner has a batting average of 46.41 in 60 ODIs.
