New Zealand and Netherlands competed in their first One-Day international in 26 years on Tuesday. The Black Caps took a 1-0 lead in the series with a resounding victory at Bay Oval. The second One-Day international of the series will take place at Seddon Park in Hamilton on Saturday. 

The hosts won the first ODI by seven wickets. The Netherlands batted first and were bowled out for 202, with Michael Rippon scoring 67. Blair Tickner picked 4/50 while Kyle Jamieson claimed 3/45 for the Kiwis. Chasing the target, Will Young brought up his maiden ODI century while Henry Nicholls scored a fifty. 

As for the CWC Super League standings, New Zealand moved to 10th place with 40 points, having won four out of four matches. The Netherlands have 25 points from eight games. 10 points will be up for grabs when the two teams meet on Saturday.

Will Young: Batter, New Zealand

Will Young is one of the most promising players in New Zealand. He has a good start to his international career, registering a century in his third ODI. In List A cricket, Young has scored 2360 runs at an average of over 39. The right hand batter has registered seven hundreds and 12 fifties in fifty-over cricket. At 8.5 credits, Will Young can be a good C/VC option. 

Matt Henry: Bowler, New Zealand

Matt Henry is amongst the most skillful seamers in the world. He has a fantastic record in the fifty-over format, having taken 99 wickets to his name from just 56 matches at a strike rate of 29.5, with 10 four-wicket hauls. Henry only managed one wicket in the first game but remains a good C/VC option, priced at 8.5 credits. 

Michael Rippon: All-rounder, Netherlands

The 30yr old Michael Rippon has only played a handful of matches for the Netherlands. He was the standout performer for the visitors in the first ODI, scoring 67 with the bat. The left arm spinner then picked 2 for 32 with the ball. Overall, the all-rounder has 138 runs in seven games at 34.5 average and 12 wickets at 25 strike rate. Rippon comes at 8.5 credits in the MPL XI. 

Max O’Dowd: Batter, Netherlands

The opening batter has been very good for the Netherlands in limited overs cricket. He has only played nine ODIs, scoring 343 runs at an average of 49. O’Dowd has registered three fifties in this format. He was dismissed cheaply in the first game but remains a good pick. He costs 9.5 credits. 

Henry Nicholls: Batter, New Zealand

Henry Nicholls has done pretty well for New Zealand in the fifty-over format. He has 1466 runs to his credit in 53 ODIs at an average of 37, including one hundred and 12 fifties. The left hand batter scored 57 off 79 in the first game while opening the innings. Nicholls is priced at 8.5 credits on the MPL.
