Pakistan Women followed a 3-0 clean sweep in the T20I series with a clinical show in the first ODI on Wednesday. The second of the three ODIs will take place at the same Southend Club Cricket Stadium in Karachi on Friday.
The hosts defeated Sri Lanka Women by eight wickets in the first One-Day international. Ghulam Fatima, playing only her sixth match, was the star of the show with the ball. The leg-break bowler picked 4 for 21 in 10 overs to dismantle the Sri Lankan middle order. They bowled out the visitors for 169, with Kavisha Dilhari top scoring for Sri Lanka with a 50-ball 49.
Chasing the target, Sidra Ameen and Bismah Maroof didn’t give the visitors any chance to get in the game, putting on a 143-run partnership for the second wicket. Ameen scored 76 while Maroof remained unbeaten on 62 as they crossed the line with 49 balls to spare.
With this win, Pakistan bagged two crucial points towards the ICC Women’s Championship. Both the teams would be looking to claim two points in the second game.
