5 Players who can be the highest wicket-takers in CPL 2020

The Caribbean T20 carnival is among the most watched and widely followed leagues by the cricket aficionados present at various corners of the World.

The eighth edition of CPL will be bringing in a ton of excitement more so because cricket services were halted the cricket operations for a few months, and the Caribbean League happens to be the first mega T20 tournament which the audinces would be witnessing.

The tournament will now be hosted in Trinidad and Tobago at Brian Lara Cricket Academy and Queen’s Park Oval, with both the venues offering sufficient help to the pacers and spinners.

On that note, let’s have a look at the top five bowlers who could end up as the highest wicket-takers in the upcoming edition of CPL.

Imran Tahir ( Guyana Amazon Warriors )

He has consistently featured among the highest wicket takers in the last two seasons of CPL, wherein he bagged 16 wickets and averaged less than 18 in each edition.

In the current scenario, he could easily be dubbed as one of the best spinners in the shortest format of the game.

His leg-breaks and quick googlies have been left the batsmen being tricked on numerous occasions accounting for his economica figures.

Sohail Tanvir ( St Kitts and Nevis Patriots )

Perhaps the best left-arm pacer in the T20s, Sohail Tanvir has been impressive in the CPL T20s played to date.

With 63 wickets under his belt, an average of 21.20, and an economy of 6.69, he is on the lists of most economical bowlers and among the highest wicket takers to have competed in CPL.

His angled deliveries coupled with the pace varations he posseses have been a force to reckon with for the rival batsmen.

Thus, it wouldn’t surprising if the Pakistani cricketer ends up being one of the highly economical bowlers in the forthcoming season of CPL.

Rashid Khan ( Barbados Tridents )

Already referred by cricket fans across the globe as the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) spinner in T20s, Rashid has grown leaps and bounds in his cricketing career and continues to level up with each passing game.

Be it IPL, CPL or BBL, the Afghani cricketer has been an absolute menace for the opposition unit to the extent, and has scalped close to 300 wickets in T20s while averaging mere 17.22.

He’s probably the only spinner whom even the cricket giants avoid to take on in the shortest format.

Oshane Thomas ( Jamaica Tallawahs )

Not many pacers can maintain bowling at speeds above 140 and at the same time introduce variations that gets the better of rival batsmen. Oshane Thomas is one such pacer who can exhibit this, and with the height factor taken into account, he could bowl excellent short balls thereby forcing the rivals into giving up their wickets.

The 2018 edition of CPL showed the pace prowess of Oshane Thomas wherein he scraped 18 wickets and averaged 17.66.

Though he was slightly expensive in CPL 2019, one should still bank on a player of his potency to rack numbers this time around.

Dwayne Bravo ( Trinbago Knight Riders )

Bravo would be among the most eager cricketers to go blazing in the CPL 2020. He’s the highest wicket taker in the history of CPL with 97 dismissals comprising a five-for and 4 four-fors.

He has an experience of over 450 T20s, and for someone is skilled in bowling cutters, yorkers, and pace variations, it comes naturally to expect him amongst the highest wicket-takers in the eighth season of CPL.
